One thing nice about the Z1 intake is it doesn't neck down so there isn't any turbulence from that. AAM's sleeve at least makes it a smooth transition. Everything else that necks down looks like a terrible design. And the AEMs are being discontinued. They only support 2011 and below anyways. I had a set that worked perfect and made great gains, and the other that was terrible lol.

synolimit 12-17-2015 01:33 PM

Well all i have to add is since i ditched my stillen gen 3 copy i made and went to 2.75" intakes i made, ive been down on power from every friend and other on these forums! 2 tuners have given me a complete tune using those. Everytime i add a new part and retune i lose power. Ive desided it was the 2.75" intakes. Now i have stillen gen 3 originals and going back for a retune again. If i cant pull 320+ hp then my motor has a big problem! But im keeping my fingers crossed its the intake. I think stillen has it right. Maybe our motor just doesnt have enough for bigger intakes.

FPenvy 12-17-2015 01:48 PM

i gained a bit more with my 2.75" intakes.

maybe due to being homemade from the hardware store made the difference for you.....

synolimit 12-17-2015 02:01 PM

No im gonna say 2.75" aluminium intake pipes the same no matter where you get it and having 2.75" CNC machined MAF housings was good too. O yeah and did i mention Z1 couplings and the K&N filters from a gen 3? Pretty sure the hardware store doesnt sell that stuff. And you admit to an Etune. I call BS on gaining power since your tiny little bhole isnt a dynojet.

was not an etune. I received a MAF map to get the car running properly based on not necking down to make the stock map not work.

then took the car to AAM for a full tune even though without a tune I still put down more than most with one.

and as for your last sentence I don't speak retard. if you wanna rephrase maybe I can clear up your confusion about the dyno? I was on.

How is the silicone elbow holding there, is it pinched at the duct area?
It looks like you did not need to cut the rad support.

Elmo370z 12-26-2015 01:43 PM

Do you have long tubes installed?

SS_Firehawk 12-26-2015 04:58 PM

Correct, no cutting. No LTH's, but intakes are True CAI's.

Zoren 370 12-26-2015 05:31 PM

Hey Firehawk maybe you can do mine in the future. Nice install

Any noted significant improvement with this mod?

SS_Firehawk 12-26-2015 06:19 PM

You have a garage? ;) I'll be happy to

abm89 12-26-2015 10:57 PM

Mind if I share mine here?

How would the Z1's compare to the stillen gen 3's? If there is any difference at all?

SS_Firehawk 05-07-2016 01:02 PM

Performance wise; no. I do know the Z1 is 2.5" ID. Idk Stillens ID.

I have a ported upper and TB's on order to match my ported lower. 63mm is 2.5", so it should work really well. I may not have test results for a while tho.

i live 5 mins down the street from Z1 and want this intake so bad but i cant justify spending 440$ for it and see next to no gains from my current short tube intake.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with the Z1 Upgrade Kit? Installation is a pita, but they claim an additional 5rwhp on top of the CAI.

Ghh0st 01-26-2017 07:23 PM

Currently running AAM short-tails and trying to get a set of these, I've been reading the ID of the Z1 intakes are slightly larger than OEM. Should I get the car tuned after installing them or is it not enough of a ID increase to need a tune?

Wondering if the F.I. tow bar will clear those filters

RanRich 11-29-2017 01:40 PM

Any verdict on the amount of intake noise these produce vs. Stillen?

The louder one will get my $$$.

Both are about the same.

Heck; With my FI exhaust,,,i wouldn't know anyway's.
As it sing's a sweet melody to me.

Wabbyy 11-29-2017 09:18 PM

Just got mine from z1. Cant wait for the install on Saturday. Anyone feel a difference after install? I'm straight piped so i doubt it'll change the exhaust sound.

Haha, I love my test pipes/Invidia combo but I can’t deny the sweet scream of intakes at high RPM. Plus I need a retune and may as well throw these in the mix.

I upgraded mine after initial install & Tune, going back for re-tune soon.
The upgrade fits the Z1 & the Stillen; be prepared to fabricate your crash bar or replace it with one that adds clearance. 6” base mount & filters are roughly 7.5” at base & are inverted...it was a noticeable difference from the basic Z1 filters.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...73bf2819a3.jpg

So now do you have to take bumper off every time you change the filters, seems troublesome.

Yes,but i went 15mos/18k miles & they didn't look bad at all,,,still cleaned them
The front Fascia is easily removed without dinging it up.

Clean them about once a year. No problem at all.
