Give it long enough to see if you have a motor that burns oil, or any other kind of defect. You'll know in the first few thousand miles. It's an assembly-line produced vehicle. Every so often one just isn't right. Don't give them the chance to weasel out of fixing a problem just yet.
Also, make sure your commute is long enough to get the oil up to temp or you'll be signing up for a whole different bag of problems.
