I get mine tomorrow, but I'm leaving for Tokyo tomorrow morning. So I won't get to see my exhaust till Sunday :(

The Sound is awesome. When i first started it up it was loud as hell. Not annoying loud but a lot louder than i expected. At Idle it seems louder than when you are driving. When you get on people are know you are moving.
I'm going to remove the back part and try to reinstall and see if it aligns better. Out of the install that was the hardest to do alone. I had to rest the muffler on my chest to get it bolted on. Maybe it's something i did I hope and not my hanger being too long. http://www.the370z.com/members/the-w...5-dsc01465.jpg |
The same thing happened with mine (left is higher than right).
Not 100% sure if this is Berk or how the factory one comes from Nissan (meaning the hangers are adjusted differently creating a tilt), but we slapped on some washers and it evened out nicely. |
I am surprised at how low that tip is. I know for a fact that the jig for the muffler section was made with the OEM muffler so it should fit the same as stock. Maybe there is more play in the connection points or something. Mine doesn't look like that and I even have a broken hanger on the passenger side.

I don't know that it's the tips. It appears that the muffler itself is not aligned correctly, which would cause the left tip to sit higher and the right tip to sit lower.
|
From the pictures, it looks like you could bend the bar that fits into the rear hanger to vertically align the tips. The horizontal spacing looks good.

Damn now imma nervous....:eekdance: |
Vids! Sound! I want SOUND :excited:

Damn, I hope mine doesn't do that as bad, I know washers will clean that up but still, it shouldn't be that off.
|
You can see the bottom of the muffler is crooked. You can't judge by the intake piping because the right piping starts farther back than the left. So there is a little optical illusion.
Any word on when the last 5 exhausts will ship out? |
well i fixed it a bit. I took 4 hours of PTO so i can try to mess with it.
It looks much better and not nearly as noticable. I used 2 1/2 nuts on the inside bolts and left it without a nut on the outside bolt on the hanger. Everything is lining up right as far as the other pipes go and nothing rubs or touches but i think the issue is the Tip. The tip looks like it got welded slight facing down. http://www.the370z.com/members/the-w...7-dsc01467.jpg |
That ******* blows man ! I really hope I don't have this issue when mine gets installed because that would mean BERK spent extra time fixing the tip alignment and it ended up worse than before rofl.

:iagree:

For those who are seeing crooked tips. Are you leaving all of the bolts finger tight until the whole system is on the car, then tighten them starting at the x-pipe and working back?
Blown away at how this is happening after repeatedly test fitting in-house on a few cars and using the OEM muffler as a jig. |
I did leave everything finger tight. Infact i had everythign disconnected and just tried to line up the muffler by itself. It doesn't want to line up even when it's just connected to the hanger. I really think it's the Tip that got welded from the muffler.
You can kind of see it slopes down or the hanger is too long. I was thinking of trying to bend it but i was afraid i might break it. And i'd rather it be crooked than dragging. |
The only other thing I can think of is that one of your hangers got bent during shipping. I called Berk and they still have their bone stock test fitment car down there so they're going to do some more test fitting on ones straight out of the jig right now.
|
mine came with a big hole in the box where i suspect the bolts and gaskets were placed. is it possible to get replacements?
|
http://www.the370z.com/members/g9681...s-gone-now.jpg
hole, don't know what was in that bag |
That bag is where another bag is, which is sealed and has all the gaskets & nuts/bolts plus some stickers.
If you cannot find them, I would contact Berk and show them that picture and request replacement parts. |
Gotta love UPS. I will have them send out new bolts/gaskets to you today.

You would think an 85lb. massive box would be hard to toss around, but leave it to the boys in brown I suppose.

I am confused as to how this is happening, but I am determined to figure it out. During the time we were making and sending out this first batch of exhausts, we randomly test fit three of the systems on a bone stock 370Z that we have here in our shop. All of them fit perfectly straight out of the jig.
M.Bonanni called earlier to let us know about these alignment problems. I test fit another one here in the shop straight out of the jig and here are the photos... http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...estfit3JPG.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...rktestfit1.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...rktestfit2.jpg These were taken about 10 minutes ago. I would like to take a look at one of the systems that is reporting crooked tips. Are there any in SoCal with the same issue? If so, please PM me so I can arrange a way to take a look. |
thx mike, mike from berks pm'd me also about replacements.
the box didn't feel that heavy when i picked it up, it felt closer to 50 lbs, but i didn't actually weigh it. |
just tilt your head to the right and its straight!!
|
I am wondering if the muffler hangers are getting bent slightly during shipping or something judging by how the boxes look and the fact that they seem to show different degrees of being crooked and there are some who have no complaints right? I don't think Dreamers was as far off as The Weapons is. but it could be the angle we are looking at them.
However they all seem to be slanted to the same side... |
i'm gonna tackle this as soon as i get my replacement bolts and gaskets that ups lost. Thx Mike for sending out the replacement

Yup, those look perfect!
I get UPS deliveries every day to my house, it's amazing the abuse I see daily. Fedex is no better. I can only say to berk that I hope you use a pantload of packing materials around the pipes so that they don't move around during shipping. Styrofoam is your friend. I also believe that Weapon is the only one who has posted fitment issues so far, it's not multiple people or did I miss something? :ugh2: Quote:
