I've waited this long. Seems a whole lot simpler then a VW/Audi system...

Cool...Being that you will be one of the 1st guys to have the exhaust on your door step, could you take some initial pics...especially of the packaging and start off your review from there?

yep i can definitely do that, was planning on it. just to ease for everyone that is a bit further. just if the damn UPS man would show... :shakes head: lol.

Alright I received it finally, it is packed up really tight, but well packed with paper and bubble wrapped CBE for extra protection. ill post pictures in a few.

I have not dove through the box yet however it does seem almost double boxed.

here are some pictures

Berk Packaging

Dove through the box because it is massive and to get it out of the way, you can fit a couple flat pannel big screen tv's into it, with the exhaust out and nothing other then packing materials the box was about ~80-90% full. Only thing i found the i didn't quite agree with was the flex pipe portion on the x-pipe seemed like it was at the bottom of the box i should be fine, after all it is a flex pipe.

Bump added packaging link.

Glad you got it, let us know how you like it!

memorylasts 08-10-2010 05:59 PM

terbo 08-10-2010 10:52 PM

Mine should be waiting for me after work Friday! I can't wait to get it installed. I'll be doing a dyno run before and immediately after install as well. I'll post vids of everything!

Mine came in too! I am having my friend repack it and get it shipped to me here in Germany! Time for some reviews!:happydance:

We have about 3 left for ordering... so if you want it now and not in 2-3 months, give us a call or shoot me a PM! Doing specials if you're ordering with a set of HFCs or Test Pipes!

memorylasts 08-11-2010 03:38 PM

Well it is installed sounds amazing, Im just running the CBE @ the moment no other breather mods.

...

Installed it in about 2.5 hrs simple and straight forward.

@ lower RPM's it is very deep! and picks up quickly, im about to go for a longer drive and see how it is, in cabin is great but have someone else blip the throttle for you, it is quiet nice to stand behind and hear it open up. You dont get the full affect.

Also the g/f approves the exhaust, witch is always good!

Didn't notice an immediate pick up in power probably wont until it settles and breaks in and when the ECU adapts.

Rob@BerkTech 08-11-2010 06:14 PM

Glad you are happy and hope it was worth the wait! Post some pics!

BOLIO 671 08-11-2010 06:41 PM

Does this apply to the Berks?

Hey Rob got a question....Is the Berks exhaust requried to undergo a three hot/cool down cycle before you open it up? I was just wondering whether this applied to all exhaust systems...Was on the FI thread the other day and noticed that one of the members posted that they were instructed by Tony not to open up the exhaust until at least three hot/cold cycles have gone by with the exhaust.... :wtf: ...did some research on that thread and found an explaination from Tony @ FI who stated

"3 hot & cold cycles before hard driving. It will help prolong the internal packing of the mufflers, resonators and tips.

I know that the Berks and FI exhausts are two entirely different exhaust systems, but was wondering whether this applied to all exhausts....especially the Berks.

ZoomtoZ 08-11-2010 06:42 PM

Awesome mine will be here Friday and hopefully will have it installed by Monday. Unfortunately no dyno time available for me locally.

We'd say it can't hurt, but it isn't an absolute necessity. From our experience we haven't had any issues with our exhaust from people that drive it straight off the install or go straight to the dyno.

Holliday 08-12-2010 01:22 PM

Anybody got their exhaust system installed yet? If so you are lucky! time to get some reviews in the exhaust section! woop woop! :happydance:

Dembflyr 08-12-2010 02:14 PM

They tried to deliver mine today. I'm still out of town. :shakes head:
I'm having them hold it and I'll pick it up on my way home tomorrow.
I still won't be able to install it until sometime next week.
This is karma getting back at me for being so indecisive.

So I had my local Meineke today install it for $90... I think a pretty good deal since most performance shops wanted over $200 around here.

Looks: It fits our cut-outs in the bumper perfect and looks really nice. My right tip is probably a couple of mm's lower - not sure if it was partly from shipping or because Meineke did the install and didnt want to try adjusting it for me - it is def not as noticeable as the prior issues - I'll take some pics this weekend so you guys can be the judge. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to cars and it really doesn't bother me but I figured I'd bring it up before the pics show it.

Sound: It's actually much quieter than I expected - again I'm used to the TopSpeed with test pipes on the 350z so its obviously going to be quieter. I'm sure it has to break-in and will add some growl later on but I might need to get HFC's now. But I'll give it a couple of weeks before I purchase anything else. I'll get some sound clips this weekend as well.

So that's a little info from my short time driving it today in between work.

Good deal, post some pics so we can take a look at the alignment and maybe give you some pointers on how to tweak/fine tune it.

I just had a quick thought about break-in on the mufflers: FI uses straight through glass pack mufflers. These are literally packed with a fiberglass material to halo muffle the sound. From the looks of it, the Berk uses a type which has chambers that cause the audio waves of the exhaust to bounce off the chambers and into each other, canceling themselves out to an extent. It is possible that without a few cycles that the FI style glass packs would not seat properly and you could eventually blow the glass right out of the muffler, although I have not heard of this happening. The Berk exhaust should not require "breaking in". I also could be very wrong about everything I said. What do I know? I'm just a mechanical engineer :P

Very Good info and explaination...:tiphat: It makes more sense the then the explaination that was given in the FI thread....Your explaination acutally paints a picture of why the FI Exhaust would need to go through the break-in period

everything I've ever read about glass-packed exhausts (at least on bikes) indicates that glass packs need to be replaced over time...

Glad I didn't go with FI.

I picked mine up today. I posted a quick review here... http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...s-reviews.html

I just have a few questions...

What the hell are these? Are they important? If so, then I am missing one bolt. What was in that Box?

I just opened up my box and didn't see anything like that in there. I'm going to double check through all that packing paper again.

Justin1686 08-14-2010 11:11 AM

Berk Installed Today

We installed the cat-back today and immediately engaged in some "spirited" driving. Inside the car, there is a definite tone difference, but not annoying a bit. Throttle response is significantly improved.

Outside the car at start up, the exhaust provides a nice, deep tone. Outside during acceleration and deceleration is a huge difference from stock. We heard no rasp, no popping, nothing high pitched. The car presents you with an aggressive, clean sound. I will see if it sets off car alarms in parking garages like the exhaust on my 71 240.

I waited 8 weeks and had researched almost every one of the available systems before going with Berk. In my opinion, I made the absolutely correct move.

Oh yeah -- installation (in my garage) took me and one of my sons 2 hours 15 minutes. It would have been much less but we wrestled with a reluctant nut of a bit.

Thanks, man. I like it too. I like the more ore less stock appearance.

Justin1686 08-17-2010 03:13 PM

so, my cbe is installed, and i gotta say, soooo worth the wait. sounds great, looks fantastic.

alright, so after 4 hours of driving around in the car after the install. i know have more time to write a better review. So, thanks to VinnyTen Racing to the install, quick and perfect alignment. The startup sound was, phenomenal. Even some of the guys in the shop, and for those of you that know have heard a lot, came to the bay door to listen to me start it up and drive away. That alone says something about the sound of this exhaust. I had made the decision to wait for the Berk cbe after listening to g35guys FI setup, and 370zsteve's Berk setup. The FI setup is great sounding, and looks great as well, but I was looking more for the stock look.

What I was surprised about though is, Steve did not have the HFC on his car, the sound difference with it on my car. It sounds AMAZING. The sound is deep, grumbling, and slightly exotic all at the same time. I'm thoroughly pleased with the setup. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow and possibly a video.
