I agree with Chuck, there tune may be good now but you are always better off with it dialed in to your car!

Unless you are near Stillen and take it to them to work out.

I am not far form Stillen, but I got a better install and tune quote from a very respected Z shop so if tomorrow's deal is amazing, I will go have it done there.

I hope it works out for you, I love mine!

How much power are you making with just the stock kit and a tune on a 7at?

brucelidat 11-25-2014 02:44 AM

Are there different sizes for the Frozenboost heat exchanger? Can someone link me to the one that work with the Stillen kit?

swiss370Z 11-25-2014 06:40 AM

Hey Sir

There are 2 Versions of the "Frozenboost" Intercooler:

1. The small https://www.frozenboost.com/water-to...c651ef5f111e85

2. The Big-ONE (I think all use it, including me) https://www.frozenboost.com/water-to...c651ef5f111e85

Also, those of you with the kit, any increased maintenance or repairs over the long run or pretty much like stock (other than increased tire wear)

If it's only being used on the street the only thing it really adds is changing the oil in the SC and tires. Mine has been on for over a year and has 17-18K miles on it.

Curious how much power/trq you are making since you also have a 7at? And what kind of MPG also ( not a huge deal, but still good to have as much info as possible)

JWillis72 11-25-2014 12:22 PM

418whp/311tq Once you change the injectors the mpg doesn't read right any more. It's not much different if you drive it calmly but that is very hard to do! If you jump on it you can watch the miles to empty drop by 10-20 almost instantly.

Another good reason for you to use a custom tune is so you can tune the 7AT. You can make it shift much harder and faster at high rpms. This will make it feel stock when just normal driving but when you are on it the car will shift much faster.

brucelidat 11-25-2014 12:36 PM

I was only considering the Stillen one because I thought it might be cheaper for them to install/tune it if I bought it from them, but that's not the case so if I do it, I will def do a custom tune.

The custom tune you will still pass emissions BTW I did in Mass, The "old" and say old cause still "says" they have addressed their can tune issue, But their old can tune was crap and super rich. The custom tune just leans it out and changes some timing , Nothing that would make you fail emissions. If I go this way again the only thing I'm doing is a tune and the frozen-boost heat exchanger

I am a noob so bare with me. When you guy say blown or popped, why would this happen? I understand the 7at not holding up with the higher power, but turbos make way more than the SC kit even with the impeller so what is it that is breaking?

I'm curious since I thought an impeller could be an upgrade for the future with some 7at fortification. Is there somehting else I should be worried about with this kit and high power numbers?

JWillis72 11-25-2014 02:55 PM

Guys that have done both the 9 lb pulley and impeller have had trouble with blown motors but seem to be fine with one or the other. Mine is the stock Stillen kit but I'm upgrading it if Stillen releases A higher output kit. My 7At is bone stock (besides UpRev tuning) and I have beat on it for over a year with no signs of problems yet.
