Decided to start my install without the ARC bottle holder. I'm reaching out to all my fellow nitrous guys/gals for any and all info, hints, tips and tricks you can share in an attempt to help me breeze through my install. Anything at all, how you ran your hoses, your mounting locations for the purge unit as well as the Nitrous Management Unit, wiring of (those that have one) the NOS Mini Progressive controller. I really do appreciate the forums and all the help it has given me so far. Thanks folks:tiphat:

get a window switch and use black tape where the ss line comes in contact with rubber lines....i ran my purge off my stero steering wheel controls...

tommyguns 11-10-2014 09:45 PM

I was told if I went with the NOS Mini Progressive controller that I would no longer need the window switch as well as the TPS.

progressive controller is better. the window switch i had wired right to my TPS uotput wire. progressive controller will hook up in the same spot....window switch is cheaper

Progressive controller will ramp the the spray instead of a kick...

Ok so I'm good to go there. I'll definitely cover the hoses where they meet with the braid, great tip. Thanks

It has both integrated into the unit.

I would check out LS1techdotcom and in their nitrous section they have a sticky with a crap load of wiring schematics (that include the NOS mini), obviously you will have to tailor to our vehicle but it will give you a good start as to what goes where and how.
Here is the start of install.

Great pics, thanks. Looks like im missing these Simple Single Stage Nitrous Board 12V trigger I assume.
Big Dog Fuse Block
Dual Relay Board
anything else that you can tell from my pictures

tommyguns 11-10-2014 10:41 PM

Going here now, LS1techdotcom.. Thanks

You won't need the relay boards. More than likely your kit came with relays and all the bits and pieces. I just have those to keep everything organised and easy to wire up, certainly not needed.
Did you get the Zex kit with their NMU?
If you do get the nitrous board you will want the negative trigger for use with the NOS mini.

tommyguns 11-10-2014 10:57 PM

NMU is in there, If you think the nitrous board will make it easier for me to wire up then I'll get it. So I don't need the other two for sure, correct?
Here's the kit http://www.zex.com/zx/2007-current-n...us-systemhtml/

One is just a fuse block and the other is a dual relay board for bottle heater and remote bottle opener. They certainly are not needed, but I just wanted to have everything located in one spot in the hatch.
If I remember correctly the Zex NMU has a built in TPS switch so might want to watch the wiring of that. I do not know if that HAS to be wired up to make the box functional or not. I have never hooked up one of their "brains" (nmu).

Have it all installed yet? :worthless:

Like all great plans......just got home from an overnighter. Shooting for the weekend. I'm still waiting to hear from Zex in regards to incorporating the Nos mini and their NMU.

tommyguns 11-13-2014 01:04 PM

Spoke to Zex, gave me the info I needed to incorporate the NOS mini with the Zex NMU. No need for the Big Dog nitrous controller, plus it doesn't work with the NOS.

Rockrover 11-15-2014 11:16 PM

Any updates Tommyguns?

tommyguns 11-15-2014 11:48 PM

Trying to sort out some issues with a window switch, which to use and how to wire it. So I've been consumed with squaring this away.

tommyguns 11-23-2014 06:50 PM

I can't catch a break. So 13 days later we sorted everything out and having all but the heated bottle holder and temps in the mid 60's here in New York, I was ready to have at it! Well wouldn't you know it, I go to lay everything out and the kit is short a nozzle on top of that the purge kit is missing the solenoid bracket. I got so disgusted I put everything away and watched football.
Got on the phone with Amazon, I will have a replacement purge kit here tomorrow. The only good thing is that it's supposed to be in the 60's again tomorrow and my bottle holder as well as my Big Dog relay will be here. So I'm putting on the big boy pant's and I quit my sulking, tomorrow will be the day come hell or high water. Hopefully either Zspeed or Zex will make this an easy fix and not give me the run around for the nozzle. Wish me luck, I could use it.

Subbed for the results.

Once I get my intercooler put on I'll take out my jets and take a picture of the 190 shot I'm doing and post them up :)

thismis the highest I've heard of on this motor! Share your setup man!

tommyguns 11-24-2014 07:07 PM

OK today was an awesome day! Started out a little slow (apprehension I guess), plus going to the auto parts store, the hardware store and Home Depot.
My packages came as promised except for the rack, that will be here tomorrow along with the missing jet. So I ran the main hose from the cabin to the engine bay, mounted and installed the NMU with all the hoses and distribution blocks, installed the fuel tap and purge line. So far the hardest part is the routing of all the hoses so that it looks perfect. I'm not concerned with hiding it, actually I prefer it to show. There's not much room Ill tell you that, I almost considered keeping the NMU in the cabin, but hoses coming and going, it just wasn't feasible. Then it started to get dark so I called it a day. Done deal by noon tomorrow, didn't start till noon today.
I could use a recommendation for a fuel pressure safety switch, what type of AFR gauge do I need, I like the look and custom ability of the Speed Hut gauges and I would like to stay away from digital.
So there you have it, it could definitely be done in an afternoon. I like to take my time and not scratch any of the fittings, use rubber grommets, things of the anal nature. The wiring should be no problem, speaking of wiring, can anyone tell me what color wire you tapped for the TPS and what wire for RPM off the ECU.
Thanks again for all the support the forum has supplied, without it I wouldn't be doing this.

So, I just have to route the purge line and mount the solenoid . I'm very happy with the results. Also mounted the arming switch, just waiting on two switches I ordered, one to arm the MSD and the other for purge. Building the ARC bottle holder/heater a little later. So if it doesn't snow like a banshee, I'll have it wired up and ready to go. Still need my gauges and fuel safety switch. Plus some help with wire tap locations. Come on guys, TPS wire to tap and the RPM of the ECU. PLEASE

If I tap the TPS at the ECU, do I still use the resistor wire?

Can't say thanks enough folks!:tiphat:

Yes, on the resistor. looks like you are set on the wire.

Thanks for the info. I can't say it enough, this forum and it's members are priceless!:tiphat: Snowing like a banshee out there, cars under the dome so I may go out there anyway.

Just an update, waiting for things to come in the mail, needed four 1' hoses to extend the fuel and nitrous spray lines. EFI safety switch and two lighted switches. All the plumbing is done and if the weather cooperates I will have it wired up except for the gauges, those I haven't picked out yet.

Wow it still isn't tomorrow yet? :stirthepot:

Thought I should share a bit of the progress. Don't worry the tire is coming out! So the engine bay is done, tomorrow the tire goes and the rack will get hard mounted. Then it's time for what I feel for me is the hardest part, the wiring. I've gained a ton of knowledge through this forum, couple that with the wiring diagrams I have, I should be good to go. My $400.00 switch:shakes head: should be here Monday! Gotta love Amazon, took back the MSD no questions asked and paid for the shipping back. So, I have the EFI safety switch, bottle warmer, bottle opener (coming soon), purge solenoid and the Zex TC unit that have to go to the relays. Then the corresponding switches as well as the arming switch and the NMU.
