Default AAM Twin Turbo kit

Question! My mechanic said he has a "once in a lifetime opportunity" for me lol

He recently became an AAM dealer and said he can get an AAM TT kit Including UpRev for $7400 one time as a sign up offer or something like that. It sounds fishy but also very appealing. This doesn't include install which he believes would be around 10 hours at $75 an hour.

Is this as good of deal as It appears to be? Good kit? Thoughts would be very helpful!

***** AAM Competition's 370Z Twin Turbocharger System *****

Looks good so far, but not a lot of independent results yet.

Also, make sure you have a GOOD tuner before you go into a project like this. Don't be someone's first boosted 370 and don't just think you'll be ok on the base map forever.

My tuner is by far best I'm the state. Given I'm in Idaho that's not saying much lol He does absolutely know what he is doing though. I want to do it but was planning on spring really. Trying to decide if the savings are enough to offset putting a TT on right before winter when I can't really drive it.

So he's tuned turbo 370s before? There are a lot of really good tuners who haven't run into one. You don't want to be the first for someone.

By half or more. My GTM was closer to 25-30 hours once all the other supporting mods got added.

Also, OP, you are aware that a turbo build will likely require another $5k+ in supporting mods and the associated labor?

I wouldn't want someone rushing though a TT build. Something could be missed in the build, no matter the level of experience.

7,400 sounds pretty good if you are in the market for a TT setup.

Being that they quoted 10 hours is the sign that they have not put twin turbos on one of these cars before. A quick run through in your head, and it certainly sounds and feels like you could do it in 10 hours. About 10 hours in, you will realize you are not even halfway done.

That isnt always a bad thing though, as long as they are very competent and cautious. Matter of fact, come to think of it... the competent and cautious part is probably more important than the Z/G experience. There have been plenty of first-timers that did it right, and plenty of repeat offenders blowing engines!

Brace yourself to cover double that labor.

There have even been shade tree installs done on jack stands that have run fine.

Yep. It all depends on if you run away screaming if step one of the install is "Remove motor and transmission". If not, go for it. Otherwise, farm it out. It's not a job for "I think I can handle it. How hard can it be?"

10 hours seems very unrealistic. Like chuck said, GTM took about 30 hours including TT install and supporting mods.
