There are so many variables that change the final outcome, I'm still learning new things everyday! |

Good friend of mine made 510awhp in his 911. He expected a lot more, but when you pulling busses on a 600whp z06. Does that dyno even matter? I would think not lol. 11 PSI tune on a VQ37HR is power. Whether it's 500whp or 600whp. Only thing dyno is truly used for it making sure you have all the tools you need to make adjustments for clean pulls. Numbers can be so irrelevant it's all about tune and health of the engine. Even I get caught up in the number game, but end of the day all I care about is healthy power. |
^ Totally agree that reliable power is best and that the dyno is a controlled environment for the tuner to work magic as opposed to WOT down the streets, I mean tracks.
I was just trying to add to jwick's response to GeauxTigers1 question as to why everyone's 'number' varies. |

Fuel can definitely play a factor as well. |

Someone once told me, "if I want more power i'll do a shell 104 octane tune". Replied, "Yea try taking the tune out of town tell me how that works out lol". I want a tune for the average pump. Hunting down $7 gallon fuel with limited places to fuel isn't my idea of a weekend warrior. IMO, That's more like a dyno queen that drives his car to event once a month. |
This is all amazing info! Wish I could quote every one of you. Much more info than I expected, freakin love this place! ;) Thanks everyone, added the q's to add at my project consult coming up!

I believe I did have a great advantage at getting over the "600whp" mark at the time. I did choose to upgrade to a automotive 340 fuel pump and 1000cc injectors, with the cjm return lines. I think that alone gave me a high chance in achieving my goal of 550whp. I do also have a tomei titanium single exit exhaust. I don't know how much of a difference it would have against a dual setup. On top of that when it was getting tuned, the weather had a nice chill that day. Roughly 40-50 degrees maybe less, and then I had Jon Parhams awesome secret tuning skills. ;)
So I kinda knew I was gonna get decent numbers at the time but I really wasn't expecting to hit over 600 on 9.5 psi at all, it blew my mind. Guess I was just lucky  |

That's the same setup Charles has on his car expect for the turbo system. Right now i'm GTM TT, 650 CC, 255 walbro. If I do a CJM S1 Fuel return and 11 PSI tune on 93 octane. Like to think 580 whp is achievable. |

Also a key point to note is the over 600 number was a fifth gear pull. The fourth gear pull, which is what most of us report, was 589 if I recall properly. Edit - Again not knocking just trying to point out differences that could account for a high number. |
