If you are truly working your way through college and take this kind of risk for a car and go with a shop that has some serious integrity problems.......... Well, you have impulse and money management issues.... Good luck!!!!
I saved for years to be able to afford my car and my TT kit, if anything that shows I have great impulse and money management skills.

Budgeting and working hard for what you want, it does wonders.

$40,000 is the total of everything that has been put into the car and the car itself.

$22,000 for the car when I purchased it
~$10,000 for the TT kit
~$1,000 in gauges and EBC
~$2,500 in wheels and tires
~$1,500 brakes and suspension work
~$1,600 clutch / flywheel / HD csc
~$5,000 for the installation of the TT and all the supporting mods that I sent him.

Since everything has already been paid for and my car is still at their shop, he is holding $40,000 of the money that I have spent, if that makes any sense. That is how I think of it, until I get my car back, he is holding the money. I should have clarified.

Unless a person is a collector in cars that actually appreciate in value, cars aren't an investment at all.

You're correct. I never should have used the term investment, because I know it is not one.

Finally we agree on something MMC!

If someone wants to get philosophical about it, a car required to get to work could be considered an investement as the end result is a paycheck (as an investment is always in the pursuit of profit). The government recognizes this for businesses by allowing depreciation and mileage allowances.

A pleasure car is another story.

If the government stayed the F*CK out of people's business they'd have a lot more money for things like TT's and such.

And GTM hasnt even chimed in on this! This is exactly why I'm just going to do a 75 shot on the Z.

I truly don't even care about speed anymore. Been there done that with my STI
