Mine is going in Monday and I'm hoping there are no A/C problems because it is nasty hot here right now.

Based on my experience, I think they key is taking some precautions when installing it so that the o-rings don't get damaged or blown out. Give SpecialtyZ a call and they can tell you how they remedied mine.

My understanding is that CSF is making some design tweaks to address these issues. Glad to see them proactive with making a better product.

I will say that the engine/oil cooling of this coupled with the FI oil cooler has been fantastic.

I'm not installing it but I will make sure the shop is aware of this thread. Glad to hear it's working well, in this heat I've only been able to do 2-3 laps before overheating the car. I have an oil cooler and its usually reading 220ish when the water is overheating bad so I'm hoping this is the end of that.

I don't/can't have the triple pass (7AT), but I have upgraded to their newer design. And right off the bat you can see there is more ability to cool and for air to pass through

What?

Z1 has this on their listing "Only Automatic Transmission specific unit available. This unit will work with Manual Transmission models with no issues."

NEW! 370Z / G37 Manual Triple Pass Upgraded Radiator & Condenser

Is this a mistake?

what do you mean? I thought there was only the original CSF and the newer design is the Triple pass

and why wouldnt it work for automatic?

wstar 08-24-2014 11:02 AM

Earlier in this thread, I believe CSF said the Triple Pass version didn't have an AT cooler integrated (like the factory unit and the original CSF for Autos).

Exactly. Beat me to it. But the new design for the 7AT cools better too

JWillis72 08-24-2014 02:44 PM

I guess I will call Z1 in the morning to find out what they sold me. I have a trans cooler in the car so that shouldn't be a problem.

Wellllllll... Did your radiator have extra holes for a trans cooler hose hookup?

And I would've gotten the manual one, but in my mind the best setup is from trans to trans cooler, to trans/radiator cooler to not OVERcool the trans fluid

JWillis72 08-24-2014 03:07 PM

Not sure it was shipped the the shop and arrived late Friday so I haven't seen it.

JWillis72 08-25-2014 04:26 PM

Well you guys were right, the one they sent doesn't have a trans cooler in it. We installed it anyway so it's time for a larger trans cooler!

JWillis72 08-25-2014 06:05 PM

Anyone no how big the cooler was in the stock radiator? If it's little I don't want to get carried away on a new one since it already has a Stillen 19 row cooler on it.

A whole 7 rows.
The thing is that you don't need more cooling, it's more that you don't shock the trans by putting 'cold' fluid back in. So the one in the radiator actually is more a stabilizer

JWillis72 08-25-2014 07:35 PM

In south Florida do you think that's a big deal? I'm always easy on the car when it's cold. The car will never see snow or freezing temps.

Anyone know of an OBDII app that shows trans temps?

wstar 08-25-2014 08:42 PM

We've been looking for TCM trans temp data since 2009, I don't think it's possible at this point. The TCM knows the data, and uses it to e.g. engage trans limp mode if necessary out around 280-300F IIRC. The dealership can read it with Consult-III, and it's a requirement to do the fluid swap correctly by the service manual procedure (but I've done fine estimating with an IR thermo on the overflowing fluid). But it's just not available via any known OBD-II codes.

What I have in the works (but I still haven't dropped my trans pan to drill and install) is an aftermarket temp sensor into the side of the lower pan.

JWillis72 08-26-2014 07:04 AM

Thanks wstar, I may have to do the same since I would really like to have it.

shadow85 12-18-2016 07:18 AM

So I the CSF triple pass isn't made for Automatic?

EDIT:
Stillen cleared this up for me. They said I could still use the CSF Triple pass (Manual) rad on my Automatic Z if I run a seperate trans cooler like a 25 row setrab.

James10694 09-25-2018 07:58 PM

Does anyone know anything about the AC condenser wire plug in? I installed my csf triple pass but there's no port to plug in the AC wire.

James10694 09-25-2018 08:03 PM

Here's the stock port

Here's the bottom of the csf condenser where the port should be.

James10694 09-25-2018 08:14 PM

Apparently the port for the plug comes out of the stock condenser. Has anyone done this install themselves and can help me out?

James10694 09-28-2018 09:35 AM

Nobody?

Spooler 09-28-2018 09:51 AM

They always leak so nobody buys them.

James10694 09-28-2018 04:19 PM

So everyone's going with mishimoto?

That’s usually shunned on the forum.

Hotrodz 09-28-2018 04:29 PM

Stay with the oem if you want reliability and to keep your AC.

No. Friends don’t let friends put Mishimoto on their cars.

James10694 09-28-2018 05:11 PM

It's too hot in vegas for no AC and the stock rad. :ughdance:

Rusty 09-28-2018 10:58 PM

Mishimoto will leak, give it time. With CSF, you roll the dice as to if it will or won't leak.

Correct, IIRC. You unscrew this part form the OEM rad and screw it into the CSF. However, I would advise you to read this thread and think about this CSF "upgrade." I for one have put them inthe GTM file.
