I'd say 10psi is the limit and it can definitely be done safely. Sam, you guys are doing great! Keep it up! By the time you guys get around to advanced tuning I should have a full exhaust and clutch/flywheel done awaiting a blower! :tiphat:

roplusbee 02-27-2010 04:59 PM

Awesome. The setup in the video is the stage 1? That fluttering was kinda crazy for a bit, but I guess that is how bypass valve go huh? I am feeling the temptation to come over the the dark side of the boost now, lol.

I think Sam himself said earlier in this thread that 9psi is actually conservative on 91 pump gas with the right tune. Scaling the numbers up, 9lbs should put down about 425whp...which is the magic number in my book (~500bhp!)

Red370 02-27-2010 05:47 PM

The top end hp numbers are good, but the TQ is extremely lacking, TQ is what powers you through turns, i'll say that whoever makes the most low end TQ between this and the Stillen kit, is gonna be the one who gets my hard earned cash.

How much torque are you expecting ?

Sunco 94, with an agresive tune by GTM @ 9lbs boost= about 425 RWHP on my car,.
11.7 1/4 mile time here we come.
There is more power to come yet, I beleive that this is a very conservitive tune. Just wait till he starts to tune it.
Sam thanks for the phone call today.
Your customers in Canada beleive in you.
and
Canada will win the Gold Metal in tommorrows hockey game vs the USA.

GO CANADA GO !!!!!!!

Man, I can't wait to see what you do with that kit.

I'd like somewhere between 340-350.

DannyGT 02-27-2010 07:14 PM

LOL he's doing this on stock exhaust components...I'm sure he can come close to your TQ figures. Also, I plan on tracking the car but the last I checked you wont be spending anytime in the 3000 range. These power outputs so far as keeping in line with the motor as is except making a ton of more power. The TQ is more than fine so far. It should only get better.

With downpipes + exhaust + meth + 10psi and a very good tune (still safe) = this stage 1 should have no problem making close to 450whp.

340-350 ft. lbs. to the wheels is about what TT'ed VQ37's put out at 6-7 psi. That's probably an unrealistic expectation for a centrifugal SC that builds up boost in a more linear fashion compared to twin-turbos that hit full boost much lower in the rpm range.

He's 20whp shy of that right now with everything else stock...I dont see a problem with reaching that number when you consider everything else that will be added/retuned for.

It's currently at 314 ft. lbs., and it's a bit harder to increase torque than peak whp with a centrifugal SC kit.

DannyGT 02-27-2010 08:01 PM

I understand, but asking for 20ish more wtq shouldnt be a problem with 2 more psi, a full exhaust system and even with meth like I plan on going. Its all in the tune..lets not forget this is only early stage 1 results.

That's what i keep on telling myself. ;)

BlackCherryZ 02-27-2010 08:18 PM

getting excited..............except it's missing one final ingredient..........

by far the most important one........... the price.......

not rushing it.....by all means, plz take your time and do what you are good at......but just crossing my fingers...........to have competitive price to dissuade me from going TT.....

also i like the sound of BOV of TT.......... but..........for the price, its too expensive......

we shall have to see.....

also, thanks for updating.......... or else, most of us would have shortened our lives by at least a couple of years due to stress and expectations......... *^^*

NYBladeZ 02-27-2010 08:29 PM

its all in the tune...and it seems that both GTM and Stillen are in the preliminary stages of tuning, oh well good things come to those who wait

Its completely realistic with a centrifugal supercharger, the Vortech kits for the 350Z were making 440whp with 352 ft./lbs, our engine displaces more than the 3.5L, which leads me to believe that 350 ft./lbs is a very realistic number. I dont understand how we can have a larger engine and make less power with the supercharger. And BTW, this was using the same V-3 blower that Stillen is using.

The numbers on Vortech's site are not to the wheels. Notice how they compare their numbers to the 350Z's factory bhp and torque ratings.

Red370 02-27-2010 09:16 PM

good point, but be that as it may, we should be making ALOT more bhp, and not around the same numbers.

SAM@GTM 02-28-2010 12:49 AM

Still running 8 psi, just spent some more time on the tuning, here is the latest graph so now we are at 420 RWHP and 330 RWTQ .

Now those numbers are more like it! very good work gentlemen.

G37Sam 02-28-2010 03:50 AM

Now that's one yummy graph

DannyGT 02-28-2010 08:10 AM

I really hate to say 'I told you so...'

...and I lowered my expectations just so I can get more excited when the real info hit. LOL

travisjb 02-28-2010 08:44 AM

looks good, sam... hey, why does the sc curve drop 250 rpms sooner than the stock curve ? thx

330 isn't 340-350, but who cares, lol.;) Very good dyno numbers from GTM.

Stage two must be crazy...

JB-370z 02-28-2010 11:37 AM

Do you think stage 3 with exhaust, hhc's could hit 465hp???
How many belts have yall broken???Honestly Sam-

jeffreyfranz 02-28-2010 11:46 AM

For street use (including spirited driving on country roads), Stage 1 would be plenty for me. I also like that the boost is only 8 psi. Does that boost level pretty much hold across the rev-range and power/torque bands?

All the way to red line rock solid.

zman1910 02-28-2010 12:08 PM

Sam...what are your thoughts on this kind of tune holding up on the auto tranny? That would be amazing IMO if it could work out well....

I know that its the same 7AT that is also in the 390hp FX50...

shumby 02-28-2010 12:18 PM

and the 420- m56 so the tranny will hold

shumby 02-28-2010 12:22 PM

still waiting on that e-mail Sam.

no hurry I just am bored here in russia right now and i check theses posts and my e-mail every 30 seconds.
