Mega- zex recommends 6-10 inches from the tb mine are on the bottom of the silicone tubes at about 8 inches I used the same type of pipe reducer to adapt them as most systems use but I used a nut with nylon insert on the inside of the tube and thread locker when u get it tight the profile of both the in/outside part of the reducer is minimal
RW- yes it is a wet kit, wouldn't spray dry on a motor that's expensive. I do get down to Tampa once in a while next time I do I'll pm it's always good to get to see some other z fans
