Yeah WHEN haha, I have been waiting until this was finished before getting a tune it should help get the setup just right. uprev seems to be the answer, does anyone have a recommendation for a tuner in north central Florida?

If I were to do the install myself on everything, George I am assuming I could make the trip down and have you guys do the tuning There isn't a shop here in seattle that feels comfortable doing this, nor do I trust after speaking with them. If so what are we talking price for a tune on N20?

Japanjay, you could also E-Tune... Same situation here in Guam. No Dyno,no tuners. Just data log runs and send for etune, receive tune, then flash.

A dyno is of course the most accurate but when dealt with situations. You must do what is available.

So your saying I can request for a nitrous tune from uprev and dump it onto our ecu??? Reason I ask is because I'm waiting for my NGK Dilkar8a8 plugs and all I would need now is the tune for my 100 shot build????

RyanWest 02-12-2014 08:17 PM

I was thinking about doing this to the Z but just a small 50 shot!

Anyone have a write up on how to install a kit like this with the window switch etc....?

In short yes. Data is data. Whether you log for n/a, turbo, s/c, or nitrous. You must be able to log your own data while under nitrous and in turn, email that to UpRev or your tuner of choice. Ensure your go with a reliable tuner when tuning for nitrous. V8Killer blew his motor because his tuner. If I remember correctly pulled too much timing. I'll let him chime in if he chooses to to share his experience.

Understand as well that when you pull timing and your car doesn't spray while ion that load. You will run substantially slower in the quarter mile due to pulled timing.

50 shot? Why? Even 4 bangers can handle a 50 shot with no tuning just fine. You probably won't even feel a 50 shot as significant as a 75. You can run a 75 shot all day with no tune and stock mapping and plugs with no issues.

RICAN 02-13-2014 06:32 AM

so what a safe shot for the z with out tuning?....i talk to uprev in austin tx(1 hour away from me)....and one of the tuners told me that they can make me a nitrous map and a n/a map!!...but to make sure i switch maps before i spray...lol

Dude am like 6 hrs away from them I'm over here in hidaldo county.....any who I might just give em a call then since I dont trust spraying 100 shot without a tune I mean ill be having the one step colder plugs but still.....OMG! I HAVE A BIG BIG QUESTION?? How many runs (1/4 mile wise) can the plugs handle until I have to change them?????

LNATKFRNG 02-13-2014 09:40 AM

Everything you will find says a 75 is fine without a tune but retune and plugs when u step to 100, I have seen many running more than that on the 370 the 350 guys are running more tho..

And yes a 50 shot is not going to be anything like what you want,

megalapagas 02-13-2014 10:07 AM

Awesome! but how many sprays per say till I have to change the plugs again?? And

None in my opinion. The least risk is tuned AFR @ (x) bottle psi for any shot combo. If the AFR is off you can melt ground straps, may be damage rings. Do not believe everything you "read". There is a member here that burned up his plugs on 75 shot Zex and damaged a cylinder.

If untuned I would say read plugs after each initial pass ideally. Typically want to spray at WOT then shut the car off and pull plugs. Want to have limited idle time so as not to hide the WOT activity, timing marks, etc.

Lmao no no jo I'm tuning that's fot sure hahahaha its horrying just looking how our engines are and I can't get my hands in there if I'm Dragging lmao....anyways I'm tuning and I'm going for a 100 shot but ill just ask the tuner then as an estimated guess more or less like 3 or 4 passes.. idk just guessing here.....

JC671 02-13-2014 04:21 PM

I think you guys are overreacting a bit much. There is no magic number as to how many times you should check the plugs after each pass. That's why you have UpRev. Monitor your conditions on each pass.

Do you know how long it takes to access the plugs? You have to remove the brace, intake manifold and the throttle bodies if I remember correctly. It was not a quick job that's all I can say. Doing that at the strip will take forever.

This is why I don't usually post because there are a lot of different opinions, or people who no first hand experience, or people who just recently sprayed and have gotten a false sense of security.

Read other forums besides here. Read all the knowledge. Buy all the safety precautions. Learn how to use them, know what they do, know the ranges each readings should be at.

Remember every car has the same risks when going F/I, the key is knowing the limits and knowing the ranges things need to be at. I've ran through more than 30 bottle refills and several passes down the drag strip with no issues for 3 years, take it for what it's worth. GL guys I'm out.:tiphat:
