Just brain storming here but since some of these single turbo kits claim to spool just as fast as a twin turbo then why didn't Nissan just design a big single turbo for the gtr..?? ? Also it appears the new z will also be a twin turbo.. I'm sure Nissan knows what they are doing by making v motors a twin turbo setup..

Can't help but notice you really have something against boosted performance don't you. Since obviously your not talking about the vsr single turbo kit when your always defending that shop.

COSMO 02-02-2015 04:23 PM

Not at all, actually I was going to buy a kit from bp but didn't want to spend thousands of more dollars not knowing where he may be in the near future.. As far as the vsr single turbo goes, yes that could be improved in many ways just like bp has revised their kit already a few times only to make it better.. Also I have yet to hear anyone blowing a motor with the bp kit which is amazing but that just shows how well it was designed..

Isn't the whole point of a twin turbo set up to avoid turbo lag?

COSMO 02-02-2015 04:32 PM

Yes, actually mike from gtm wrote a great article of the comparison between a single vs a twin.. Don't get me wrong a single turbo isn't bad at all considering it is a bit less money and Alot easier to install.

Thanks for the good info COSMO. I'll do something similar thanks man :tiphat:

I did my first as soon as the oil temp read 180. I have a greddy magnetic plug and there were enough particulates to make it worth it. Im doing my second after 50 miles then again at 1000. Using regular oil in 10w 30.

COSMO 02-03-2015 06:57 AM

Why the 10w instead of the 5w? For break in you actually want the clearance as close a possible so in can break in correctly. I also have a magnetic oil drain plug to help monitor particles.
Have you started a thread on your motor build and specifications?

Changing the subject but I saw a new Z06 at the casino's this past weekend and it was pretty nice. I have never seen rotors front or back so big. Can't imagine what those things weigh after getting a good look at them..

The builder of my engine told me to use 10W. He has built many engines so i figured he would know better than I would so i didn't question it. I could ask him why recommended that weight.

No build thread, but I will start a new one once I get this thing back on the dyno.

COSMO 02-03-2015 08:31 AM

Wont get into a debate but the 370z and the gtr are both broken in on 5-30 with the same oem bearings.. What comp did you go with and overbore?

TopgunZ 02-03-2015 09:03 AM

I am just .01 over since it was dropped into an engine with 100 miles on it.

11:1 compression because I only run E85 and wanted the low end a bit snappier. Plus it helps spool response.

GTM Arias extreme duty pistons.

COSMO 02-03-2015 09:23 AM

Didn't know Arias was making 11.1 pistons now. I know me and Charles had first custom CP pistons made 11.1, Right on...

TopgunZ 02-03-2015 12:57 PM

GTM customs up the Arias.

COSMO 02-03-2015 01:04 PM

GTM? bahahahahaha... Good luck with that..

TopgunZ 02-03-2015 01:13 PM

What the hell do you mean good luck? They are already in my running motor.

bullitt5897 02-03-2015 01:16 PM

TopGunz dont worry about him. The pistons you have came straight from Arias and are built to a custom spec. I have them in my Z and they work Great!
