ARP main studs
ARP L19 head studs
K1 Rods
Wiseco pistons
OEM bearings, Calico coated (theres no aftermarket available)
Cosworth headgaskets
engine gasket set
rear main seal (doesn't come with the gasket set for some reason)
timing chain/tensioners
water pump
oil pump
pickup tube

Recommended (especially if you want to beat on the car in the summer):
Re-routing the turbo coolant lines (GTM chains the coolant lines together so the driver turbo is cooled with the water exiting the passenger turbo)
Upgraded radiator (mishimoto works great)
2012+ coolant expansion tank
2012+ coolant hard pipe (expansion tank returns to this pipe now, above the driver side manifold)
Ceramic coating for manifolds, turbine housings, downpipes
Bracing the driver side manifold (the GTM driver side manifold has a tendency to crack along the runner due to stress from supporting the turbo)

I would also highly recommend a set of Z1 motor and transmission mounts and a whiteline poly diff bushing to actually put all of this power to the road.

:iagree:

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the useful information today on the phone. I hope others will use this thread as a tool if and when it may be needed down the road. Pictures will be posted as soon as I get a replacement block.

Well today was a good day, I have a few more options on the table. One being a long block out of a g37 with only 10k miles. I contacted s&r out of tampa to build it but he couldn't find pistons in a 10.1 compression. I worry that a 9.1 comp will make it laggy... Any thoughts. Keep in mind Iam looking boosting around 16psi.

I would have CP custom make you pistons in 10:1. I tried to organize a group buy for this a few months back, but almost nobody was ready for that yet. I was planning to reintroduce it in December or January to see if anyone was ready. If theres enough guys ready to go right now, I can set it up.. the pricing was really good if we could get 7 guys. 5 more after you and I :) I had a thread about it: http://www.the370z.com/group-buys/73...mp-10-1-a.html

10:1 is the lowest I would personally go.

My engine builder here in San Antonio runs a performance shop and is also a Certified Master Infiniti Technician. He HIGHLY recommends using CP Pistons for his GTR or VQ builds. He told me to go with a standard bore 10:1 or 9:5.1. I chose the latter. I asked him why not .20 oversized, he told me that he has built hundreds of blocks while at Infiniti and there was not one that needed to go with overbore pistons. He also mentioned of how thin the VQ sleeves already were in stock form. My 9:5.1 pistons are custom made from CP and purchased through Kyle at IPP. If SA, Texas isn't too far from you, I highly recommend my builder.

The thing is with standard bore piston, is that you dont always get control over your piston to wall clearance. Last time I ever tried a stock bore piston, it was 2004 or 2005 and a customer dropped off his 350z with some pistons he already purchased. Turned out they were already smaller than the recommended piston to wall clearance. We tried it anyway and it sounded like a diesel truck. I was so bothered by it that I refused to give the car back like that, and I rebuilt the engine again out of pocket and sent the pistons out for ceramic coating. This added enough size that we were able to set the piston to wall clearance proper. Problem solved. Car still runs to this day but I will personally never chance it with standard bore pistons again.

phunk Iam in on those pistons. Do we have enough people to do it or what?

phunk 11-26-2013 08:34 PM

It looks like it. Tomorrow I will try and get it all arranged with CP along with attempting to get an accurate ETA to their construction. Then I will post back to that thread and confirm with everyone interested. We should be able to sort it out within a couple days.

COSMO 11-26-2013 09:23 PM

Please let me know asap so I can get those pistons down to s&r for my build...

phunk 11-26-2013 10:49 PM

I will let you know what they say. I believe its generally 6-8 weeks for custom pistons though... so if you are in an immediate rush it might not pan out quickly enough

SharpByCoop 11-26-2013 10:49 PM

I thought the 9.0:1 CR pistons from Wiseco would be 'soft'. Not at all. Impressively powered low and midrange. The VVEL has so much influence that the CR was a non factor.

My input.

Contacted s&r and spoke with bobby about those 10.1 cp pistons. He's going to call cp to see how long it would take them to make them along with a price. I may have to pass on the group buy depending on the time frame. Will keep everyone updated..

Nice research so far , following this everyday ,
Sorry you had this issue bu Bobby at S&R is AWSOME

The time frame will work out the same.

I will know in about 45 minutes where we are at.
