Hey man you will definitely still need the oil cooler even in 55 degree temps. Good luck with GTM

snowsurfdirtx 03-06-2014 06:41 AM

Damn. Lol thanks for the heads up man.

Guess I'll just wait it out.. getting impatient but rather be safe than sorry and have to rip the front end apart again

Terribleone is right. I would consider 34 row a minimum for boosted cars after watching my temps. With two 19 rows (thermistatic) and GTM radiator with upgraded fans, it dissapates heat in a similar manner to a bolt on Z with a large oil cooler. This is using the stock bumper of course. If I did it again, I would have jumped on twin 25's instead (if they fit).

Wow... is that in hot Vegas heat though? I went with the oil cooler add on kit for the supercharger kit. Comes with a Setrab 25 row, lines, Mocal in-line thermostat and the necessary brackets, etc. The 34 row won't fit on the side with the supercharger oil cooler.. maybe I'll have to add a 19 row in conjunction with the 25row like I believe Martin is doing on his track car..

I really hope I don't have heat issues.. with bolt ons, the car would reach 240ish only if pushed very very hard in the canyons / twisties in 75+ degree heat

Yeah, but that was before you stuffed an intercooler in front of the radiator in a car with very little frontal area. Go bigger on cooling than you think you need.

Very true, sir. I'm looking into the CSF radiator and a vented hood + SPAL fan on the oil cooler.. appreciate the insight guys.

I got my oil cooler finally! Took a bit of time, but all that matters is it's here and it's going all going in tomorrow AM!

ART pipe is back with new bung for my wideband, header had a sheared heat shield bolt that got drilled out.. gonna loc tite that b!tch in though. My drill skillz aren't as good as I thought. Got some wiring to finish(I HATE WIRING) and yea..

Last thing, TUNE. Sam needs to shoot myself and martin82 over our ROM files and we'll be ready to rock

I told my GF we could take a nice trip this weekend, so that I can have lots of Z time and she can't make me feel bad for it :D

snowsurfdirtx 03-21-2014 03:31 AM

SHE LIVES... started her up a couple times, topped off oil, s/c oil, etc. Nerve wracking for sure, but it fired! No tune from GTM still, gotta call Sam again tomorrow.. really really want to shake the car down this weekend!

Here's a quick video.. more to come of course, I'm just excited it runs, doesn't leak so far and that I didn't break it :rofl2: sorry for the music, bluetooth magic from the car made it start playing.

edit: i dunno how to embed youtube videos, so if it doesn't work heres the link lol

Awesome! Can't wait to see her on the road.

snowsurfdirtx 03-22-2014 02:23 PM

Thanks man, she saw some street action yesterday! Sam@GTM sent me my tune late yesterday, everything is looking ok, no leaks still and I drove her 5 miles... in my neighborhood :rofl2: neighbors were watching me, looking confused. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out the log files I have to determine if its safe to drive more and break the blower in, but here's a few revs after I got back from putting around the neighborhood and topping off fluids and stuff.

Sorry for the camera angle, I was excited. :yum:

Links not working

How's your exhaust smell? As in richness, air/fuel readings?

the youtube link? weird. It idles around 14.8, when i jump on the gas it jumps down but I haven't given it a good romp WOT yet. It usually jumps around between 14 and I've seen it as low as 10.. Bank 2 is leaner typically than bank 1, and more 'jumpy' in the log. Exhaust smells normal, really. I've got ART pipes. No CEL or anything.

I believe and I may be wrong but as long as your in between 10 and 17 your alright

When you coast its ok even to be higher that 17 because the motor is just giving enough gas to keep it running but on the gas it shouldn't be anywhere near that.

Dzel 03-22-2014 05:34 PM

You definitely need to get your tune done asap.
