FRYZIA23 GTM stage 1.5 S/C build
1 Attachment(s)
So I have been dreaming of going FI since I bought the car 2 years ago, and finally I am able to do it thanks to an accident my Z was involved in. Basically my car was parked at a gym parking lot and some 19 year old rear ended it doing god knows what. I did my research and took the car to the most reputable shop that I could find. I wasn't looking to make any money at that point, just wanted the car to be repaired as best as possible. Initial estimate was $3,500 but when everything was set and done it came out to $13,000 in repairs. Body shop took their time but in the end it was worth it because they did an excellent job. My previous ARK grip exhaust was damaged so in that case insurance paid to replace it with original one. Fortunately, factory NISMO exhaust was $3,400 which went into my pocket. At that point got myself another ARK grip exhaust, UPREV, intake, upgraded my rotors, pads, powdercoated wheels, calipers and installed Z1 34 row oil cooler. Right after repairs were done, I filed a claim for diminished value. After months and months of back and forth phone calls with insurance company of the other driver, they agreed to send my way a $6,500 check.
:happydance: So after convincing myself that it was meant to be, here I am about to add boost to my Z. This is my highest HP car I ever owned so far so I absolutely cannot wait to finally install this kit! Here's the list of parts that are already ordered and hopefully will be here by mid august. I will be installing everything myself with help of some buddies and plan to have a final tune done at R/T tuning in Lansdale, PA. GTM stage 1.5 turn key s/c kit with 88mm pulley GTM Vented fender liner GTM supplemental 25 row oil cooler kit with remote thermostatic plate HKS spark plugs Fast Intentions exhaust with 18 inch resonators and carbon fiber mufflers #777 Fast Intentions resonated test pipes Still to order: These gauges will be installed in place of the 3 stock gauges: DEFI boost, oil temp red racer gauges and INNOVATE red AFR gauge AEM oil pressure gauge with audible warning. Will install this one in center console hidden behind cubby door. I'm hoping audible warning will be enough to alert me if the oil pressure drops too low. AAM oil pan spacer 7.5 SPAL fan for oil cooler with temp switch. Will also do: Black out the inside of headlights Tint taillights Blackout emblems Possible but not priority. Depends if the funds are available. Powdercoat intake piping black and anodize intercooler black. Looking for that sleeper look MISHIMOTO or CSF radiator still not decided on which one yet but leaning towards MISHIMOTO due to thicker core Heres how my car looks like so far |
fryzia23,
Sounds like you have everything set-up and ready to go for this build! Make sure you post a bunch of pictures! Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks, -Pat |

Ask him where it is made :icon17: The CSF is made in America!!! |

I bought a Mishimoto for another vehicle years back. I made it fit, but it took more work than it should have. Chinese quality control leaves something to be desired. |
Yeah Im actually fully aware that its made in china, which is the only reason thats holding me back on mishimoto. So far I havent found any negative reviews on the forum but Id like to see more feedback from people who installed it on their 370z
|
I don't think a lot of people are running it on a Z yet. After using one on my old STi, I'll go with a name brand over a chinese unit any day of the week.

I will definitely post a lot of pictures and keep everyone updated on the build once I get my hands on this kit  |
exactly 4 weeks since I placed an order for this kit and still no update from GTM:shakes head:
|
I hate to say it, but that's about par for the course. You will get exactly what you wanted. It will be fantastic. However, they will get it to you when they see fit. It's frustrating, but it'll be worth it in the end.

|
As promised by Sam, my supercharger kit went out the door today. Should be here by the end of next week. Getting closer and closer to feel the boost...:happydance:

The kit just arrived. No sign of any damages to the box itself and everything looks nicely wrapped. Will post more pics later when I go over the parts list. So far so good:tup:

|
thanks megalapagas. That was the look I always wanted to go with since day one.

Does anybody has any experience with Eastwood radiator black paint? Im thinking to coat my intercooler with it to make it black. I wonder if its gonna reduce the efficiency of the intercooler.
Amazon.com: Eastwood Radiator Black Paint Satin Finish Aerosol 12oz: Automotive |
It won't. It's really thin. Go ahead and spray the intercooler. You'll be fine. It does chip really easily, so be prepared to give it the occasional touch up.

thanks for the info Chuck!

Installed FI exhaust and FI resonated test pipes today. Totally different tone. Love the sound but gotta be honest, ARK grip sounded nice as well. The fitment of flanges, mufflers and tips is no comparison, everything lined up perfectly. One hiccup though, which most likely is effected by my car being previously rear ended. While test driving, I heard strange noise and found right side muffler is MM away from the charcoal canister even after removing the canister shield as per instructions. I will try to relocate or move the charcoal canister to get a little bit more clearance from the muffler. Would like to see a picture of how much clearance it should have for comaprison. So if anybody would be so kind to take a quick picture for me, I would really appreciate.
Also installed AAM oil pan spacer. Used my vacation week so the supercharger build starts tomorrow. :driving: |
Best of luck with your build. Looking forward to following it. I'm hoping to go FI in the future. PM coming your way.
|
Started the build late afternoon on Sunday. Looks like by the end of the day tomorrow, it should be ready to be fired up. Here's what I've installed so far:
Fuel pump Injectors and spark plugs Both side motor mounts Supercharger unit, idler pulleys, alternator, power steering pump and the drive belt. Will start the day with finishing up the power steering and supercharger oil lines and cooler which are almost done. |
Noice!
|
youre doing the install yourself?

Can you measure the diameter of the compressor housing intake hole, if you haven't installed it yet.
I'm looking to see if 3 inch, v-band has an ID of 2.75 inch. Thanks |
HELP needed! So got the car all back together, flashed the tune, started the car and it wont keep running. Checked for trouble codes and found P0447. Evap emission control vent control circuit open. Would it be something with a fuel pump wiring, something that controls the vent? Or maybe because my exhaust is touching the charcoal canister and caused it to go bad? I just hope its only a coincidence that I just installed the kit and that happens.

Sounds like you left something unplugged.
|
Check your MAF sensors make sure you installed them correct and the plugs are on good.
Next is it running "Rich" do you smell gas in the exhaust? If so the tune may have the wrong "K" factor, you are running the 660cc injectors? |
He should have Bosch EV-14 650cc injectors.
|
Thanks guys! I found the problem. It mustve been due to fatigue because its been a long week.I left the connector disconnected by the kick panel to gain the access to the rubber boot to route the gauges sensors. Shes running just fine. No leaks:tup:
But I gotta say that when first pressing the start button to let her fire up, I think my heart skipped few beats. It was pretty tense. Founding out that it just was a stupid connector, it was such a relief. |

You also may want to turn the blow off valve toward the pass side to keep dirt out of it.

Congrats on your install!!! Hope you get all the results you expected.
|
One tiny leak I found is coming from oil filter. I changed 2 filters already and still nothing. Any ideas?
|
Never mind found the cause
|
Car is all back together, no leaks anymore, gauges looking great, it runs very smooth, part throttle AFR corrections almost dead on within ~2 % to a 100 as they should be as per GTM. Will call RT tunning tomorrow to schedule a tune. Now it's time for a 2 hrs drive home from pa to jersey. Should be a fun ride. Wish me luck
