Stillen SC... I know I know..

Ok...before I get blasted for not using the search feature, let me explain. I have used it. And although some of the information is there.. I'd just like a little more "specific" feedback on the situation.

I'm thinking about getting the Stillen Supercharger and hoping to reach a goal of about 500hp to the wheels. I'm not positive on how feesable that is...but that's my intent.

I found out today that the Nissan dealership in my area is an authorized dealer for it and they're also able to install it. However installing it partially voids some of the warranty.

My question is... what do you guys think about purchasing those parts through a dealer and allowing them to install them? Is that more/less safe than finding an actual aftermarket shop and having them do it?

Also what would you guys assume is a fair price for installation? They quoted me at $1320. give or take a little bit.

Last but not least what other mods (because I'm sure the SC by itself wouldn't do it) would you suggest (reasonably) that could get me to my goal? And if you happen to have a location/site with the best price and customer service could you post that as well.

I know somewhere through the thousands of posts that these answers exist somewhere...but I'd greatly appreciate it if you guys laid down some knowledge right here in this one.. LOL

Thanks everybody!:tiphat:

Lol, at least ur ready for the flaming!

Look up AMNVQ. That will give u a lot of good info about going the "dealer" route.
Your warranty will be voided because to gain the "500" hp you will need a custom tune and the Stillen can tune is garbage.
Don't know anyone making 500 on Stillen. Baer is a little over 500 on a Gtm 1.5 SC.
Since ur gonna lose ur warranty, there are far more superior kits out there to make that mark.

Couple people have tried to reach 500 with the stillen kit. and they have failed. To much of a hassle. Go with the GTM stage 2 if you want a SC with 500.

I personally wouldnt go to the dealership for anything unless it's to fix something under warrenty. Many shops in your area have probably installed many SC/TT kits on a Z and you might be the guinea pig for youe dealership. No matter what the cost is i'd go with the shop that has more credibility and experience with the Z. So do your homework. A install and a tune is a differance between a blown engine or a long lasting engine.

yea ask AMNVQ how the warranty issue works......

ZKraken22 03-18-2013 04:25 PM

Yea AMNVQ went down trying. havent heard from him since.

SS_Firehawk 03-18-2013 04:26 PM

Sorry man, you aren't going to get close to 500whp with the Stillen kit. 450 is a slightly more realistic number and that's high. I don't have this kit, but I would expect a pulley upgrade, 928 impeller upgrade, custom tuning, full exhaust, idk... will take some work. If 500 is your goal, I would look elsewhere.

Can't blame the guy. Lost a lot of money trying to make the 500 mark on the "Stillen" kit.

I know this next question is ridiculous so be gentle...

Assuming the shop I take it to doesn't have a dyno...is the car safe to drive just to get it to one that DOES have a dyno? Or would driving it at all with the FI stuff installed screw things up?

I'm only asking because I know someone who owns an aftermarket shop, so I may get a litle better deal in terms of man hours, but they don't have a dyno..

You can install everything and just leave the blower belt off and it should be ok to drive...just don't try driving crazy like that. It will just be running with no boost. Have the aftermarket shop put the belt on and tune it.

Are you buying the "tuner" kit?

I have survived the "flaming".....puhhhh...:icon18:

I came from 300hp (original) to a littel over 500hp
(NOT WHP)

I love the extra power, and the kit for 2 years and 24'000 km :driving:
500hp are also in my view the maximum without much intervention
(but that's enough for me and had no problems so far)

Installing the kit necessarily by a professional, with a custom setting
This important suggestion I can give you

Greetings

Nice! Wish we had that grade of gas here at the pumps... 93 is the highest I believe. Some parts have 94.
