Thanks, will add that to this and the finished builds thread.

m3chhawk 01-30-2013 08:22 AM

Just as a heads up 310 kW is 416 HP for us dumb Americans

tower74 01-30-2013 09:26 PM

I know I had you cross mine off the list but it was 481hp and 427tq on an 7AT at 9.5 psi.
Only saying that to show the tranny CAN handle the hp & tq. I know a lot have said I didn't "drive" the car but those around KC know better:tup:.
I put the kit on my car at 2600miles on the car and I'm taking it off right now at 20,800miles.
Before the tranny was tuned (somewhat) I noticed I was slipping between 3rd and 4th. It was actually upreving before shifting into 4th gear. After some tweeking to the shift points I never had a problem again. I also never drove the car hard in the automatic side.

My question to the ones that had their tranny blow up on them..Was it tuned? If so how long did it last after the tune?

Z eliminator 01-30-2013 09:56 PM

How did they tune it ? what was different in the tune ?

thanks

Z

Hmm. Definitely curious to learn more about the apparent failure rate and failure vs power/torque levels.

Rod Saraiva 01-31-2013 03:35 PM

Today I'm up the presure to 0.8, and at night I'm going to test it :D

G37sHKS 01-31-2013 04:25 PM

Does G37 with 7AT count as well?

Subed. I'm f. I. As well with auto. 490whp 400wtq. Uprev tune and uped line pressure. 6000 miles with no problems.

[QUOTE=Z eliminator;2139712]How did they tune it ? what was different in the tune ?

I was sent emails (tunes) until I felt it was better. Noticed a lot of the tunes had really hard shift points but as we went along those issues disappeared. No slipping or the engine revving up before it would shift to the next gear. Uprev can and does do these and your tuner should be able to do this as well.

how hard have you pushed yours with the 7AT that its still holding up good with no transmission mods besides line pressure?

valpozguy 02-01-2013 04:52 PM

I hammer on it multiple times every time I drive it. So far so good. Trans cooler is only mod.

That's good to know. Some of these performance places say otherwise lol

My goal of I go FI is 500-550whp

Never had the Trans cooler on my AT7. I would try to allow the boost to build before putting the hammer down. Was able to break it loose on dry pavement at 50mph in 3rd almost all the time. At the same I was always worried about blowing up the tranny running it hard but the old girl held up.

When it is below 40 degrees my car will do this at 65 70 mph

Is it honestly worth dumping 20k into a TT kit and a transmission? For that 20k plus selling my Z I can have a decent down payment on a gtr lol

Well im hoping to go 12.01 or 11.99's all motor with the built tranny. present time is 12.342. and the built GTM is going to give me at least 3 to 4 th's in the 1/4 mile and ive only tested the first 2 shifts under full throtle. 11.9s are just as fast as a 09 GTR,
with the stage 2 giving me around 500 rwhp low 11'1s for sure. the stage 3 with meth on my built motor 550 +. going to be a great drag race with a GTR. up here they cost 127,000 dollars with tax in.

I can get a 2013 GTR with 100 miles on it for under 90k from a dealer I know right now lol plus exhaust, intake, tune on a gtr is major HP instantly

I'm still greatly impressed with what you've done so far with your Z. Those times are awesome for all motor.

There was a reason....:stirthepot:

cycy89 03-10-2013 11:13 AM

So with a good tune and a Trans cooler, the Trans should hold up pretty well?

valpozguy 03-10-2013 11:33 AM

Just from my experience seems to be yes. I got 6000 miles on mine with no issues. But I also take good care of my car. I don't beat the hell out of it. But I do red line her on a regular basis. Just stay out of 5th through 7th gears in boost and you should be fine.

Can I ask this 7AT Boosted group... In your honest opinion is a proper tune, tranny cooler and possibly a VB upgrade good enough for AT to hold the boost?

Again just your opinion based on personal experience :tiphat:

Just make sure they tune your tranny as well. It helps out a ton. It might be the reason mine lasted as long as what it did, when I had it. They are still fun to drive.

Trust me it was worth doing it. The shifting (in the manual side) became more responsive and the shifts were a lot stiffer.

theDreamer 03-15-2013 08:08 AM

I have just rebuilt the first 2 posts, and have added a bunch of new information. Mostly about the factory transmission and a link to a PDF file & a link to a technician book.
