Im 7AT with 440HP and 320TQ and mine just gave out on me with the Stillen SC and smaller pulley after 8,000 miles. Going the Level 10 route as we speak.

Lt8Che 09-11-2015 08:29 AM

Level 10 is a stand up shop and does great work for our 7A/T's. I had mine done with their "bulletproof" package rated to 700whp.

I had a chance to visit them as well when they had my car and the guys at the shop are very personable and take time to do things right.

I have a complete write up on myg37: Review Level 10 Performance Transmissions - MyG37

Good deal. Thats the package I am going with also. The worst part is being without a car for 1 1/2 weeks being that i'm in Oklahoma and have to wait for shipping and such. Lol Ima check out your write up.

it goes fast tho. I ordered my 5at from them on a saturday right before they were closing. they built it on monday/tuesday, shipped it and arrived in tampa on thursday. they were extremely professional and caring and easy to deal with.

unfortunately i'm still waiting to get my car back with built motor/turbo kit/level10 tranny.

7at is a different monster, but i know their 5at is currently on a twin turbo fx35 putting down 900whp on racegas. near 1000whp it started having some slight issues so was sent in for adjustments even though it was after their warranty period they are still improving it for freeee!

Yeah they told me the turn around is very quick. Cant wait to feel the difference. From everyone I have talked to, they have nothing but good things to say about level 10. I know I made the right choice.

So I have a lot of confusion after reading this..does transgo make a valve body for the 7at, I'm pretty sure I read that the GTm was a transgo piece but then I read that they didn't make one yet (transgo).... Any help?

So, ive read throught multiple pages of this thread a few times

So pretty much, with a 7AT fully stock, can handle the stillen supercharger but not for long reliability?

Of course with the trans cooler, oil cooler, exhuast , tune... Trans is still bound to fail?

My thing is, when on the highway, im usually not in manual mode, and thats when i do most of the spirited driving... Overtaking cars and such... And it seems from reading gear 5-7 is the most dangerous where u cant push the car hard.... And i love stomping on the acceleration on the highway...

Just seems counter productive for me to go FI

I see your's is a 14' with A/T,,,does it have the RC33(3.359) Rear axle Ratio Or do you have the RC36 (3.69)
Cause on the Highyway with the 3.359 in 5th gear (1:1) you can run it up over 170 & closer to 175.[pending speed limiter is turned off] pushing it in 6th, would surpass 200-idk if these cars will stay on the road that fast...160 is plenty for me.

I don't think the TransGo makes a kit. At least they didn't back when I was looking there are upgraded valve bodies you can get for about 900 - 1100 dollars.

AAM and level 10 used to sell them but I don't see them on the site anymore.http://www.levelten.com/mobile/Product.aspx?id=251

I would think you could get one from Level 10, they build them for their bulletproof transmissions.

Hey guys I was planning on upgrading my stock Z to the Stillen SC with A2A. But after reading this entire thread I am a lil gutted. No has made any recent replies in this thread.

Is people still having their 7AT pop driving hard with SC?? And to overcome this I need something like a level 10 tranny upgrade, valve body upgrade and trans cooler?

I am in Australia, not sure if we can get these trannys here.

shadow85 11-08-2016 07:18 AM

So anyone tried yet if the JR711E with it's higher tq rating will fit the Z?

Interesting thread here but it died in 2013:
http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...charger-t.html

I would like to know this. Because I am in Australia so I can't get the level10 or gamma motor built transmission unless I wanna pay over $3K usd for shipping alone.

So maybe I could get a JR711E from a Nissan patrol locally and swap it out on the Z, or atleast the internals if it works?

You're gonna have to find out. That thread died because here in the US, it's not necessary. We've got options. You don't, so you're going to have to get creative. It's a gamble. Honestly, from what you posted about mod options and parts costs down under, you might have better luck with a vehicle that has better aftermarket support down there. That, or be ready to deal with some setbacks and dead ends (or paying a fortune in shipping). Why are you looking in the US for parts? Isn't getting things from Japan far easier and cheaper for you?

shadow85 08-14-2017 11:08 PM

Found a trans shop here in Australia, named JD transmission. He is currently changing a customers 7AT out for a race spec 4speed auto gearbox and custom TQ converter and adapter plate, and customise the tailshaft, fully manualise them to get away from the electronics side of things. The customers car is a fully built 800whp Z.

RJM is now working on a 7AT transmission build soon to be released.

I know at least 9 Level 10 transmission builds not holding power :shakes head:

Fast Intentions has three or four solid built transmissions running 600+whp

I know of one very reputable transmission shop that might offer a 7AT build this year (fingers crossed).

I think the Boosted Auto Platform will grow as more options become available and we show what the Autos can do at the track

Just what I know :tiphat:

Contact RJM.
Go to their fb page and direct message them.
Their 7AT package is 5500 + 1300 for additional TQ converter.
They swap out 12 plates : 6 new carbon and 6 steel ones.
They also do valve body machine work.

Better than level10

Triple disc torque converter.
And level10 package is around the same price for less work into the AT and less upgrades.

That’s still a lot of money. Nice thing about the MT, the amount of power it holds is based on the rating of the clutch.

cupcakez 05-19-2018 12:20 AM

It is a lot of money.
But thats the disadvantage of ATs is their AT upgrades cost hella lol.

MT clutches and tranny hold a ton of tq!

I had mine built by level 10.So far so good.If you are going for big HP it is a must.Looking at about 7k + for the job.A lot of money.Built AT will shift faster than a manual. You have to pay to play.Other options out there.I did not know of others when I had my tranny built. The level 10 tranny I have can put the hammer down to the 600 whp in my car.

I agree but if I was willing to own an AT then I wouldn’t be in the VQ community. I’d be driving an ISF. Only left the Lexus community because they stopped making MT.

Granted there are a lot of faster cars.I'm not going to open the can of snakes about MT and AT.Yes I have stick in other cars I own.

I have followed the Z over the years.Buddy bought a new 240Z when they came out.I liked the look of the 370Z.Bought a roadster. It just did not have the HP I liked.

Now I have a car I think looks great with plenty of Horsepower and fast shifting automatic transmission.Whats wrong with that?

Nothing. You build what you enjoy. I have nothing against ATs. I just prefer MT in my sport cars, even though I know the modern AT is ‘faster’.

1slow370 06-29-2018 10:01 PM

the modern AT isn't faster when you can run 1100whp through the manual lol

im lucky, i have fully built GTM 7 AT

blueranger 06-30-2018 11:12 AM

My built 7AT has been solid for two years at 650whp with weekly trips to the Dragway. Not sure how much more power it can hold once I go 800+ whp.

Would be great if we can adapt a TH400 with transbrake for us dragstrip junkies.

I've been looking into this a lot for my 7at, running low boost right now until my "fun" budget is built back up.

IPT (Import Performance Transmissions) in New Jersey builds them a bit better than Lvl10 from what I've been told. The guys in Dubai abusing the **** out of their boosted Nissan Patrols (same transmission) send their transmissions to IPT here in the states. I personally know of a guy with a 7at g37 that was built by level 10 and still busted it. Took it to IPT and it's been running strong ever since.

I'm personally saving for the RJM solution. It's worth the cash, they build it up more than the other two solutions. Overkill if you never plan on going past 600 or 700whp but beyond that, RJM's transmission will outperform the other options.

bullitt5897 11-13-2018 12:11 PM

For those looking for a real bulletproof transmission option. RJM released their Transmission package as well as upgrade path for the 7at. Below is what they have it priced at:

Triple disk Carbon clutch Torque Converter (Upgraded disk, twin spring upgrade, reinforced tabs and etc...) - $1200 retail ($300 core charge)

Billet Flexplate (Fast Intentions) - $1000

Fully Rebuilt Transmission - $4500 ($1200 core charge)

The full build should net you $6700

So far they have tested this trans on several cars from the whipple supercharged cars with instant torque on demand and twin turbo setups. Most cars are running around 550-600ftlbs to the wheels and the temps on the trans is not over 200* when paired with a trans cooler. They just replaced a level 10 setup that failed on a AAM TT customer car and the new transmission is insanely good compared to the failed Level 10! In fact they are running nearly 100whp more than the level 10 that gave out.

so glad you guys have done a bunch of research on the option for the 7AT. looks like i need to save up for the RJM packages.

Would a full rebuild be recommended on a 7AT with 75k on it? Also would the full rebuild have larger /stronger clutches in the higher gears? By the time my build is done we may plan on getting head work done if not filling building the motor to see what the SOHO stage 2 kit is capable of. Seeing as one just hit 615WTQ on 93 in second guessing going cheapish on it and not fully building it from the off. I messaged RJM the other day and they replied but told me they were driving so they would get back to me so I'll hit them up tomorrow lol. Thanks
