I simply zip tied my O2 wires to others on the sides of the trans. Nissan is guilty of bracket pollution on the transmission! :p Curious as to why you shortened the shaft by 3/4" what it calls for 1/2" everywhere. |
On the driveshaft length…
I measured the original driveshaft and just shortening it by 1/2” would be a really tight install on my car. The drive flange was very close to the pinion shaft threads. Then, after measuring the two transmissions side by side several times it looked like 3/4” shorter would be a little better choice for my 2010 model touring. I have a 2016 3.69 mt rear diff, with a different than stock pinion angle also. That may be part of it. |
Just an update on this transmission swap. Pretty happy with it overall, but it has some quirks that are frustrating, much like the VQ version.
The biggest one is: I occasionally get a rough 4-3 down shift when stopping hard in D. So, I will be researching this issue and report my progress. Odds are good it’s a VB shift valve or solenoid issue, but not sure yet. |
Godzilla raceworks has the brace and aluminum driveshaft cheaper.

They laid blame on everything and anything but their product which wound up being the problem as noted above. |

All downshifts are much tighter and no more driveline "slop" that felt like a blown mount or bushings. |

So a re flash at the dealer or your tuner should fix it. |

The TCM has been updated via TSB at Nissan so they say there's nothing else they can do. At this point I'm thinking failing TCM. |
Hmm okay so two questions.
Do you have to buy a “service TCM” 2010 compatible from Nissan and have it flashed with the latest software revision, or will a used TCM from a salvage 2010 trans part number be able to be reflashed at the dealer? I am surprised they were willing to update a VQ TCM in a VR transmission. My dealer said it’s all modified now, and didn’t act like they wanted to update my TCU which is still on the original 2010 flash program. Guess I could call another dealer. |

Don't tell any dealer you swapped trans.' and just have them update. |
Removed the crap Godzilla Racing driveshaft for VR60 trans. swap as it threw the weight the local driveshaft shop had to swap in due to receiving it from Godzilla out of balance and with much vibration.
Only a few thousand street miles on it and a U-joint was already shot! Shop installed new non-serviceable joints and it balanced within spec. without needing additional weight. None too happy about the serviceable joints slinging grease all over the undercarriage. Contacted Godzilla the 2nd time about the balance issue (they ignored me the first) and told me because I altered it (1st go when replacing the balance weight), I'm out of warranty. I hardly consider that altering, it's the same as replacing wheel weights IMO. They've had every excuse in the book including adjusting non adjustable (per FSM) driveline angle. Even if I were in warranty, the process is to ship it back to them, which would cost more roundtrip than if they simply reimbursed me for the original balance of $75 which I provided an invoice and before and after balance weight pics. Not to mention downtime. No wonder so many small businesses crumble!! Also, they did mention other customers are having the same issues. :shakes head: |
