Im sorry man! I do not know what else to say...keep us posted.

That sounds like a valve tap to me.

Spun rod bearings usually have a more hollow "tok tok tok" sound to them.

Could be mechanical (tight valve/bent valve/valves need adjusting -- which I don't think you can do on this head) or possibly related to a wonky VVEL sensor/controller.

Low oil levels could cause that too... but then where did the oil go?

Only other thing I can think of is what Steve was saying about the flex plate.

I'd get a leak down test and see what's up -- good luck!

I won't be removing the S/C, because I am missing lot's of my oem parts plus it probably isn't worth it sending it back to GTM

Glad to hear you will still be around. I know what you mean about removing the SC. It could be very expensive to put it back to oem if you don't have all of the parts. I'm sure you will find someone that will be more than happy to take the car off your hands the way it is. Good luck with the sale.

Haha, this is weird!

I think the mods are deleting my posts for cluttering up Mike's thread

Well just dropped it off, an do not feel to good about the outcome, Service manager kinda gave me a hard time, ( New guy). All in all if they do not warraty it I can not fix the car, 0 funds( Yet a lone the 9k is cost to fix if its rod knock) .. Has to do with the long story, But seems like this may be the end. of my car, If they do not cover it I will be parting it out, and seeing what else I can do to get rid of the car.. Just a gut feeling.. I really hope I'm wrong, Yes I know I can call Infiniti affairs, But we'll see what the dealer says. Honestly they way my luck with this car and other things I WONT be surprised at all if the whole thing is denined. :(

They sure are deleting posts. We aren't cluttering up Mike's thread, we are just sharing his pain because we know how much hard work, money, and tears goes into making these cars supercharged and turboed beasts. We are staying on topic, just indirectly:tiphat: From what I have seen posts that sometimes contribute seemed to get deleted here..hmm

weiboy718 11-07-2012 10:10 AM

Mike, you probably have a legal case against them with that sign paper.

Sorry man! I knew the dealer are sketchy like that already.

ANMVQ 11-07-2012 11:09 AM

Thanx Weiboy and your are not cluttering LOL. Nothing has been determined yet was just a feeling I have. everything for my the last few months has been sh*t. I would think I have a case because I was told by the dealer" you buy from us ,we install it and you will stop have all your factor warranties". So we will see.

I really hope not. Like the line from Tommy Boy, " a warrantied piece of sh*t". ;)

fuct 11-07-2012 11:29 AM

Let's think about this for a sec, Ted. Why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.

Go on, I'm listening.

Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to feel all warm and toasty inside.

Yeah, makes a man feel good.

'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?

What's your point?

The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times.

But why do they put a guarantee on the box?

Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

sorry, couldnt resist :)

You need to do that again with some revs to tell if if is a rod or a valve. But most likely a rod and it sounds like it is chewing up that bearing.

Get an oil analysis and it will tell you what is happening and if the bearing is bad or something else.

Compression test would tell you if it was a bad valve. If you have done that already the it is a rod bearing and it's chewing up the crank.

There is a post about someone selling new motors on here.

Sell the SC and get the motor. Replace it and the you have something to drive.

Mitco39 11-07-2012 12:26 PM

You could also cut apart the oil filter and take a look. This is what my trucks filter looked like when I spun a lower rod bearing.

And no that is not gold.

Ergh... then it might be a rod, as someone else mentioned.

Good luck!
