We have the car back from Forged. Sharif tuned it to just over 440whp at around 8 PSI (waste gate pressure) on 100 octane . The 20gs would have easily put down over 500, but we only wanted to add 150whp max to the chassis. The car is going to be pounded on WOT most of its life. Rather than the occasional hard pull on the street. I'm certain Sharif has a very conservative map on the car, He has detailed the tune in another thread.. It was however very apparent of the HP potential of this kit.

I was able to drive the car some in my neighborhood. My first impressions "HOLY $#!+ BALLS" !!!! This car is so light, with the JRZs still set for NA and the new solid bushings... the 305 R888s where no match. Boost comes very quick, the waste gates open almost immediately... then things get interesting! With the open dumps and no sound deadening you can't here the race rubber screaming for mercy as the first 3 gear click away as fast as you can shift them. I made a few hard pulls and put the car away, as it is VERY loud. I will have a lot more details after some hard track testing this weekend.

Here are a few pics also new splitter and 335s (Camera Phone)

ROFL! You drove it on the street....I'd love to see your neighbor's expressions on their face. Nice!

That's what my reaction was. I couldn't imagine gutting my car and driving it on the street. That has to be nutz!

Quick update. I'm back from CMP. The car ran perfect. The Greddy twin turbos had zero issues on track, and the tune was solid. With that said we are still struggling with cooling issues. The ambient temps were in the 90s and I was seeing 280 oil temps within 4-6 hard laps. The turbos are adding some heating, but we were having this issue at stock power levels as well. Anyone that is truly pushing the 370 to the limit is painfully aware that this is a Nissan issue not a GReddy issue. I have another round of cooling upgrades in the works. I'll release the details when we get it all together and do some testing.

"How did it feel on track?"

The car is very strong. With a little mid throttle modulation, you can easily manage the spool up of the G20s in a midcorner situation. The extra power made the car a little loose on the 305s, but as soon as the 335s went on ,it was magic. The extra 150hp allowed me to steer the back of the car at will.... even with the huge rubber. Once you begin to unwind the wheel its a foot to the floor linear pull to redline. In the straights when shifting at or near redline, the spool up is almost immediate. I was running with a Porsche GT3 Cup all day. Their car was 2600# 400whp... and on Michelin slicks (we're on R888s). The car sounds amazing! Every time it comes of track a crowd of people gather and comment on the insane wail off the dumps.

Road Atlanta Monday..... I don't look to have truly impressive numbers until the cooling is sorted, and i can get in a rhythm. But, the potential is there. It's clear the power did not upset the car. And the bottom line..... It is a complete blast to drive! ..... more to come.

I have video... i dont know how much... left the cables at home in the rush to get out.

I was at the track with a prep'd subi... he got some from behind... way behind ( JK ) hes suposed to be getting it together

Sharif@Forged 05-16-2010 12:21 PM

Very good to hear! :). M. Seeya ok Monday at RA.

Even more extreme measures are in order to keep your car cool for track use. But I am sure it feels great to have some serious power behind the wheel.

Valentino 05-16-2010 12:56 PM

Great job

Yes, the 370Z have a major problem with Oil temp even N/A (on the track). keep us update with your solution. Whats your setup for Diff cooler? Pictures if you have any to show.

Thanks and Good luck.

working on the next round of cooling.... donations are welcome!

here's what we did as a quick fix for Road Atlanta. Saw "some" improved cooling... but may have been due to the higher sustained speeds, and more airflow.

bullitt5897 05-18-2010 11:00 AM

Wow that looks good Jay! I am glad to see how far your car has come :)

FuszNissan 05-18-2010 01:15 PM

Damn that looks bad ass

RCZ 05-18-2010 02:55 PM

This is the best/biggest most awesome build on the board. Damn, I wish I had the funds to do something like this. Looking forward to see what you do with the cooling. That tiny cooler you have in there is not going to help you at all....specially not behind that huge intercooler.

CBRich 05-18-2010 03:47 PM

Nice G6. LOL.

Knives 05-30-2010 12:36 AM

I actually just stumbled on this build. I'm amazed.

Was wondering, any brake heating issues? Doesn't look like any modding was done to direct airflow to them.

Thanks on the build! I have oil going through the radiator as well. I was testing that cooler location, because I don't want to open up the entire front of the car. I can feel the drag now as it is. I have an oil cooler on the way that is literally the same size as the radiator! I am however very concerned about the oil pressure drop through it. We are also working on a radiator/heat exchanger that will dissipate 160btus. Should double our total cooling. Also considering splitting the intercooler, so I can direct the cleanest air possible to cooling. Power isn't the problem heat is, so it should get priority.

I haven't had any issues with brake heating. I did 45 min straight at Road Atlanta (It was January 40deg ambient). I've been running the set of XP8s for what seems like forever! With that said....Ducting is on my to do list. I'm still not sure of what the front end of the car is look like after all the oil cooling mods. Once that's sorted, ill duct them... if there's any air left!

Some more fab pics... Built a custom exhaust 304 stainless all TIG welded

Sharif@Forged 05-31-2010 01:00 PM

Good work on the exhaust. How much weight did it save compared to the Greddy?

less than 1/2 the weight of the full system (FS by the way)... The secondary need was to clear the area for the fuel cell and diffuser.

stormcrow 06-02-2010 08:33 AM

So, Jay, how's the drone at say 2500 RPMs? Nice and streetable? *lol* I kid, I kid.

The exhaust looks pretty damn good. I bet it is ungodly loud, though. I want to hear it. :)

I've heard good things about the XP8's. Def a challenge being the trailblazer in directing so much airflow. Hat's off to you though, great job so far.

Btw, we def need some more pics and videos.

a quick pic update... this is how the car will look in a Mag feature coming soon.

Fuel cell in last week, moved Dif cooler

Cooling components are all here. Will be going on this week, have testing scheduled for next Friday. Ill update with pics when complete. Also fabing fire box around the cell, and Carbon splitter... gonna be a busy week!

WShade 06-06-2010 06:37 PM

Which mag? Can you talk about it?

Modified Mag front cover. :tiphat: The issue should be out in 2 months, and we'll get a scan of the cover posted up. I wanted to thank Jay again for joining the shoot. It's features a comparison of his 370Z TT vs. our GT-R.

Add me on FB "Sharif Abdelbaset". I added a bunch of pics from the photoshoot that I took with my iPhone...LOL.

LiquidZ 06-07-2010 05:57 PM

Thanks for the add Sharif. Definitely nice cars.

Update .....oil temps down to 220.... 98deg ambient.

Looks like the extreme cooling measures are working... The car was very fast and could run out an entire session at NSS. Going to turn up the boost and start sorting the chassis at closer to 500wheel. I have video, but am having hell trying to get it formatted.

Saw your other thread. Do you have any pics of the updated oil cooling system?

Wish us luck!
