7 speed automatic rebuild

Hi guys well since driving my car like it has been stolen the 7 speed auto is on the way out so I have purchased from GTM a full internal parts up grade will post the update once installed very keen to see the better clutches in the kit with increasing the line pressure from the up rev tune

Sibze 08-04-2012 11:01 AM

Damn, stolen eh? How'd they do it? Get your key?

Guard Dad 08-04-2012 11:04 AM

Driving it LIKE it was stolen.

ZKraken22 08-04-2012 11:14 AM

Any idea to when youll have the car back? gtm is gonna take forever. In for results. And also I see you have the pulley upgrade on your stillen SC. How much did you gain?

ANMVQ 08-04-2012 12:55 PM

just saw the same rhing about the pulley upgrade Iam doing the same, But think the T trim from vortech + I upgraded fuel, maf's and the heat exchanger, cog pulleys what'd you make for whp?

3zworld 08-04-2012 01:13 PM

Same ...in for results as I am about to purchase the Stillen SC kit myself.

ZKraken22 08-04-2012 01:40 PM

Yea I like the stillen kit over GTM for some reason. Maybe Because I can run LTH with the stillen. But waiting to see what you guys upgrades will make.

I have been playing with the torque management table in the Uprev, and logging my slippage so since I have the line pressure up pretty high it has stop slipping but we all know it probably won't last.

I can't believe it AT tranny already experiencing slippage within a 2 year time fraME. Stories like this is what scares me to invest in a FI application.

1. So you're no longer experiencing (slippage/tranny problems)?

2. Was the FIX due to UPREV Adjusting the line pressure on your TQ management Table?

3. How you're experiencing higher Temperature, 200 Degrees, with a Transmission Cooler + Fan ? But yet a member 'ANMVQ' has only seen 185 Degrees

Thank you for the responses, much appreciated Baer. I've 7 AT myself, which is why I asked you those questions. I'm highly interested in purchasing the GTM 1.5 SC KIT but a little nervous due to hearing stories about Transmission issue on the AT.

The issues only show up,

1.flooring it in 5-6-7 gear
2.hole shots
3.hanging out at red line allot

I'm very hard on my car but it is still running very well, shifting good,no oil consumption,so I really can't complain.

valpozguy 08-05-2012 08:46 PM

I got auto also. 500 whp 420 wtq. Very interested in this.

This can't be the first you've heard of this? It's widely known and highly disscused that the clutch plates in the higher gears can't take the higher torque. It's not a huge deal just part of the game and there are fixes for it. Tranns cooler, increased line pressure, upgraded valve body and fully built tanns.

I heard allot of the problems on the AT stems from trying to floor it within gear range 5-7 (OVERDRIVE). Reason the problem arises from those gears is that they are not as strong at that range because it main use is for OVer Drive. Correct me if I'm wrong.

2. ?? what is Hole Shots? Is that smashing on the GAS pedal at a stop light??

I just though that the 7 AT Transmission was built Stronger than its predecessor, 5AT.....

Me too, But a lot less WTRQ, Supercharger.. 7SPD auto car should be back at the dyno in 2 weeks.( I hope)

show2nite:: Hole shots are jammming from a gid( Flooring it from a stop). All the I did 7 back to back pulls at the track a month or so ago and tranny as fine..

Along with the UPREV TQ table managment A MUST -With out this I would be supprised if the tranny lasted 2 months,, An you also NEED a trans cooler, With out either of these the tranny WILL slip and break.. The UPREV at the very least as soon as you bolt the FI kit on,, The cooler could wait but not that long..

I am going to be purchasing the GTM KIT 1.5 SC :stirthepot:soon. I already possess a 28,000 BTU (Largest Tranny Cooler Size from my old setup). I have to order a good oil cooler though is their another reputable good brand besides Stillen?

No problem, man, Funny I spend more time over here then on the G37 forum, I get more info and feed back here. LOL

show2nite 08-06-2012 11:32 AM

What you guy's think about this AT Transmission B&M 70297 Hi-Tek Transmission Cooling System: Amazon.com: B&M 70297 Hi-Tek Transmission Cooling System: Automotive

I am being extra cautious.

ANMVQ 08-06-2012 11:35 AM

I thought about the one with a fan or adding a fan, But unless you going to wire its own on off switch( I was going to tie into the cooling fans). Then no, in the winter when its like 15 DEG out you will not want the fans extra cooling,
