What coatings did you use on the pistons? Did you do anything to the rods? Sorry if you already mentioned it and I missed it.

Thanks Ron, honestly I don't know what specific coating was used as the machine shop took care of it directly, but I can find out for you. I didn't do anything to the rods at all.

I finally got to put it on the dyno and saw I was quickly running out of fuel up top past ~530whp. We ended up installing an aeromotive 340lph pump and a fuel return kit from CJM, didn't hook up a vacuum source to the regulator but right now I have plenty of fuel (needs a retune), put down 561hp/550tq at ~12psi.

Nice numbers. Which injectors did you end up with? I may follow your motor build as well. Omar@UPREV suggested that I use a shop in SanAntonio that he uses for all of their VQ customers.

Damn........Ron beat me to it again......lol.

Thanks Nick! Good too know about the fuel return system, thanks for sharing. That tq number is really high! What exhaust are you running? are you peaking at low rpms and then falling down?

I haven't started Rob. I am on the researching phase, that takes a while. You can still beat me lol.

yup, its basically a back pressure issue. I have the .86 AR housings, berk test pipes and AAM 2.5" exhaust. I'm going to see what we can do with tuning before upgrading the exhaust though.

Now I'm thinking I should do a FRS sooner than later.

I'm running bosch EV-14 650cc injectors right now, but I have a set of DW 850cc going in soon.

I figured that's what it was. Must be a real kick in the butt, all that torque down low, helloooo wheelspin! :icon17:

probably a good idea, but I'd be curious to see how far a hardwired aeromotive 340 pump would go before running out up top.

nope I only had a walbro 255 hardwired, the aeromotive might be enough depending on HP goals

I think the issue is the 650cc injectors. Not the pump or the lack of a return system. I am on the same 650cc injectors and they were close to maxing out at 530ish rwhp. Wonder what the result would be with the 255lph and say 850cc injectors.

its possible its related but FI ran into the same issue around 550whp, they had to compensate by adding more fuel up top
