Default Stillen SC question

Hey Folks,
I'm thinking really hard about having a Stillen SC'er installed. My sig pretty much sums up what has been done so far, my question is, what else will be needed besides the SC kit. I will be adding ART pipes in the near future. Oh one last thing, please don't make this a GTM / Stillen comparison thread, I have my reason for going with the Stillen. Sam produces GREAT products but for me it's not about getting the most out of the engine, I'm also interested in the looks department. I'm 52 years young and take the car to my local show so I hope you understand.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Looking at your mods you are pretty much set except for some gauges that you can add. Other than that a custom tune and their 9lbs pulley

I was under the assumption that the kinks were finally worked out.

The kinks were 99% in the canned tune, he just means in terms of customer support. Good mechanical product, poor customer support.

Kyle is working on improving it. I think things are going pretty good now.

I watched one get tuned and drove it around for a while, 2010 I believe, it was really nice. Felt stock until you got on it and then magically had an extra 100 whp. very legit. But make sure you have a custom tune done, never trust canned tunes for FI. They're only meant to get you to the dyno shop

+ 1
I have a new canned tune and while it isnt bad, its not optimized. The canned tunes are pretty rich. Ive had no problems with my Stillen kit. Customer support is hit or miss, depends on who answers the phone.

Just like everyone else said, get a custom tune. There are a few reputable shops in NY that I would trust with my car. Good luck!

I've got a Stillen on my 2009 G37S (mechanically identical to yours). No issues whatsoever, lots of HP and torque all around. Not a single misgiving. We've been having a considerable discussion over on MyG37S where I've listed several things of importance there.

One is an oil cooler - absolutely critical. And another is - if an automatic - an automatic transmission cooler. You're covered on both sides.

If you are a G37S member (or want to be), I've been adding to my comments on this thread and I also have been adding images to my library of images there.
Who has a Stillen G37 Supercharger? Numbers, pics, vids! - MyG37

Be prepared to change your supercharger oil by the book. Also carry an extra belt with you - should it break, you'll find that the dealer certainly doesn't have one and because it's a rare part number you probably won't find it at AutoZone. Change the belt on a regular schedule. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it is doing "double duty" over the stock setup.
And you also have to watch your air filter elements. You'll start to get strange OBD-II alerts when it gets dirty. Don't mistake it for a loose gas cap or anything else - clean the two MAFs and the elements.

And great that you have the Eibach parts... this car is so much more capable with 500 horses that it needs the suspension. But think about some SPC camber adjustment on the front and rear. Alignment is critical.

Was sort of, Cause I have to do some running on my own. Not the issue,. I called a few times before the install, with some questions , Got no answers, emailed about a posiable pulley upgrade and got no answer. Had some questions about my tranny temp sensor and "Their" cooler kit, Got no answers and cost me $500 later.. Even with the "Issue" sorta resolved I still do not like their customer service side of things. Besides I had to do a lot off chasing to get the issue taken care of.

Thanks for the input. As far as the performance side of things goes your all happy right, no CEL's.
Now if I can find a used one I would really be happy. I'm thinking of installing it myself, but by chance I have a shop do it, what could I expect the install charge to be approximately?

Depends on what you add on, the shop, etc but I'd say $1000-1500 just for the supercharger, plus tuning

This is definitely not something for everybody to do themselves... besides the mechanical experience electric al experience and fuel system experience is needed. And it's *very* tight under the hood and especially in front of the engine.
I'd recommend looking at shops to do the install, but only if they have done one before. Get the best shop you can find who has done it before, even if you have to go to another city.
