I know that would suck, I don't want test pipes and I don't think hfc would solve the problem, it's not a big concern for me and even the r and d department at STS tells me it's fine but damn u guys are making me nervous, I just don't know what route to take

I mean it will be fine for a while, its not like the whole thing is gonna blow up as soon as you start it. I would run test pipes, add resonators and call it a day.

It's not as bad as you think man, there are plenty of turbo cars out there without cats.

First off the install looks great so far! Hopefully that thing will be on the street next week.

As far as the whole "CAT issue" I basically said that the stock cats would be just fine as long as the tuning was close. There is no spool up benefit by keeping the stock cats. Sorry if there was some confusion there....

If you are pushing more power, the car is bound to make more heat. The increase heat will destroy those cats. I have shown proof of it on many other cars in the other STS thread. If you do a search you will find many more that had destroyed their turbos or had bent blades because of the cats coming apart.
The increased heat alone is NOT going to destroy the cats. It will however make them more susceptible to failure but they can sustain far more heat than you might think. We know this from the past 10 years or so of turbocharging cars with stock cats. As I stated above, the factory cats will be fine up to a certain HP level and as long as the tuning is close.

Even if a CAT "fails" it's usually the first section of the cat that lets loose and gets clogged up in the second section. You WILL know that something is wrong since your car will feel like there is a potato stuck in the tailpipe. If anything does comes out of the tailpipe it is usually just a very fine metallic dust, usually nothing that could bend or break the exhaust wheel.

I ran well over 500whp with stock cats on my personal vehicle for years. When I swapped in a set of high flow CATS the stock ones looked just fine. The only reason I even swapped in the HFC’s in the first place was because they were given to me, NOT because the stock cats failed.

There are reasons to change or remove the CATS altogether. However, on a stock car making 500+rwhp the stock CATS are usually just fine…..

first pipe (intake into the turbo under the car) first splice after the catalytic converter. So I would make sure it put on correctly.
