Never having a boosted car in general but specifically a high HP one that requires an aftermarket clutch, I dont quite understand what this means (newb ?). How do you feel your clutch "reacting" to the power and know if it's going out or needs to be replaced with aftermarket? Thanks guys

if you are in gear press your gas and it just revs it is time for a new clutch as it is no longer doing the job it is supposed to do.

clutches can only hold an amount of power once that power level is over their rating they will slip and not transfer the power to the wheels.

^^ thanks I figured there would be a big indication as far as how it would react, that was exactly what I needed to know. Pretty sure about going FI in the near future and it's threads like this one that are getting me closer and closer to pulling the trigger with all the great info coming from people first hand. Great build BlackonOrange and congrats on your numbers!

When I drive the car hard ( like your supposed to ) the clutch heats up , when I punch it or launch the car it's smokes and my RPMs hit redline like as fast they would if you were free wheeling , you'll know as soon as it happens , not to mentions it smells like burning lol, Anyways I think I'm gonna with the act clutch and flywheel

Other guys with the STs kit, you Guys ever run with your air filter cover off? And does it make a difference?

Chinook 04-12-2012 11:37 PM

I never use the rain sock, the filter is covered pretty well by the shield. However I don't usually drive in the rain much. And I am currently using JWT clutch and flywheel and have not experienced any problems, seems to be holding up pretty good.

blackonorange 04-12-2012 11:53 PM

What's your afrs at at wot

Chinook 04-13-2012 06:16 AM

I am just in the process of moving my sensor to behind the turbo as recomended by sts. I also just installed water/meth last weekend and am waiting to get a tune, sounds like hopefully by mid may I should be all ready I will let you know as soon as I can. When I pulled the rain sock off it seemed pretty restrictive but I honostly don't know if I noticed much of a difference, it's been a while.

Well it's weird, now that we've thought about it it's spitting oil out the back , so we've come to the the conclusion it's a seal in the turbo, the weird thing is that It threw a service engine light :s, would Low oil pressure throw this light , we fonna uprev it Tommorrow to find out but as it sits right now we gonna expect the worst and assume its head gasket.

A headgasket at such low boost I would doubt that. I really hope its not that, what color is the smoke out the exhaust ?

O&G 04-14-2012 11:30 PM

compression test? Doubt it's the headgasket
