Chinook, what happened with the other tuner?

Chinook 06-04-2012 12:50 PM

They were having some difficulty with schedules getting both the dyno and tuner available at the same time and a local Z car club was having SEBZ from specialty Z coming down already had the dyno booked and with the 370 guys we had, we were able to change flights and get an extra day out of them and dyno was available for the extra day. Sounds like they will be tuning the boosted performance kit, a Stillen kit and maybe 2 Sts kits including mine, as well when they are here.

Chinook u said u noticed a difference after installing the boost controller even tho u didn't turn up the boost?

Chinook 06-04-2012 01:53 PM

Waste gate crack pressure it seems to spool earlier and quicker and I think sounds better unless it's in my head. Are you coming for the dyno days?

I actually used my boost gauge, I have the aem tru boost gauge which also works as a controller as well. It was pretty easy to set up and seems to be working pretty well

I really hope the motocross spark plugs I pulled out last weekend don't come standard with these kits. Not only have I found that but now my Cat's might be fried. Lovin your system so far..... but somehow diffrent.

Didn't STS say that the stock cats would be fine? lol Well... I did warn everyone about it but STS assured that it wouldn't be an issue.

Uhhh what do you mean motocross plugs ? Lots of plugs are used for different things

blackonorange 06-30-2012 12:57 AM

A one step colder plug is a one step colder plug across the board , doesn't matter what you use them in lol, and what makes you think your cats fried ?

I looked the part number up on the plug...it came up as motorcross dirt bike plug. Either the jagoffs that installed my kit did it or STS sent them with the kit. They run about $5.99 each.

I've also had this kit on for 9 months and 10,000+ miles...ohh yeah and without a proper tune that I had paid for to begin with.

I've waved the STS flag and tried to hold my tongue on all the issues I have had with the kit. Mainly because I had the first AT7. If I can find an UpRev tuner and get this tuned I might come back to there side. As of now I'm about a 1/2 second away from ripping out this system, which when changing the oil is a royal pain i the asz to get to the oil filter, and going back to a stock set up. Now with the 100+ heat I can drive my car about 15 miles before it tries to overheat. DONE!

I've have a check engine light. When I went to O'Reilys and use their ODII reader I got a P0430 code. Which is the Cat's. I knew it was only a matter of time with the tune STS sent that was keeping me in the 9's and they can't figure out why....

Trust me the car sat for almost 2 weeks when the intake solenoid valve went out...and the cam sensor....and then the pulgs....I think the next should be the engine. It's the only thing left.

blackonorange 06-30-2012 09:55 AM

Of course the cats are gonna go if u run that afr , also I'm sorry for the troubles youve been having

This tune you paid for, is it the canned tune from sts or from a local tuner? Keep in mind most manufactures never recommend keeping canned tunes, you should always get tuned for the conditions you live in. If you have been running the canned tune from sts it would explain a lot of your issues.
