Ya I just stopped moving the shifter back and forth. In 13 years of driving manual trans and moving the shifter back and forth, never once did I find that I failed to take the car out of gear. SRM gave me a reason to get out of the habit. When it's out of gear it's out of gear, looking back on it... To be constantly jerking the shifter back and forth just to keep on checking that it's out of gear and keep doing it the entire time I'm coasting as if it may have fallen back into gear somehow... It looks awfully OCD to me now lol

I discovered that I had left it in gear ONCE. I was very tired. It's going to be a VERY hard habit to break.

My info came from a wikipedia article on the vlsd/miata mx5 and how the silicone in the diff broke down and the diff failed to work. The article stAted that by sixty thousand miles, this type of diff will be non functional. Obviously this is just hearsay and I wanted to ask someone who had btdt. Thanks! ( to re cap, it just does poorly, equally poorly, for the life of the car?)

Love my Stage 1 SC'd Z. It takes some getting used to driving the car with 400+ RWHP. The rear gets loose easily in gears 1-3. This is something that becomes more predictable as you drive it more and more. Does not really make the car a dragster though, the real fun against other cars is from a roll. The Z has a hard time using the extra power in first gear (lots of tire spin and blowing through redline) but after about 40 mph, the power is very usable and awesome. I pulled on a friends modded crotch rocket (180hp) at 60 mph and ran away from him to 155 mph (which is when I let off). He claims he's beaten a Z06 in the same scenario and could not believe the Z was so fast. The FI really brings the Z alive. It makes it a totally different car.

For you guys with SC's, is an oil cooler required if you're running FI in a daily driven Z? No track time, just DD with the occasional joy ride. Just wondering if an aftermarket oil cooler is necessary. Also what typw would be sufficient if any?

Oil cooler is a YES, they don't cost that much. If your going FI'ed and not ready to spend 10K+ your setting yourself up for trouble.

Check out this thread.

a few pages back there was talk of raising the limiter...as a newb, would you be looking at upgrading the valvetrain? are 370s getting into aftermarket cams? most of these F/I setups seem to be unbroken/sealed motors. what's a safe bottom end whp #?
