just to throw it out there, that GTM stage 2 is Digi's. He's running on a 2.5in exhaust with cats.

To clear a few things up, the dyno run stopped at just above 6k RPMs as it was the first tune on the car and we were not attempting to push it yet. The first tune was testing the turbos, lines, pressures, etc. to verify it was all in working order. Later tunes were not done on the same dyno unfortunately so there is no comparison on exactly what the car can do at full range 6-8PSI with a GTM Stage II TT. |
oops, nevermind then haha
|
I was just throwing out a comparison, I saw it on Johnnys computer. It was really more to give everyone an idea about how low this dyno reads, not saying one is better than the other. I don't know anything about that car except that he should take the cats off! Ron, when are we going on our date?
|
lol date, shut up man they are not supposed to know! I thought you were gonna be there for coffee and cars
|
Wana hear something hilarious? I went to the Woodlands like a dumbass and then realized it was off freakin 249, said f*** it and went home. I'll b @ our next meet wherever it mite be in town. I need to get more envolved w/ my Z brothers and sisters. I roll w/ a mixed crowd usually, lol.
|
haha oh man, woke up early for nothing. I might drop by this week at JTran's to check their shop out.
|
Let me know when so I can roll out the red carpet!
|
all runs on the gtm Turbo kit was made to 7k rpm.wish people would stop making this a gtm vs jtran studios. both kits are completely different from one another. you have two turbid comparing to one. its stupid. we sell gtm kits here. we did a whole 350z with there twin 3076s, cams, and exhaust. our fx runs there cams with the ysi vortech SC.

You even had Sam from GTM in on this, no one is saying anything negative. I was just supplying some information that I have seeing as I was standing next to the dyno when that GTM TT run was done. |
I did the fuel system install and Sam was nice enough to send me the TT manual which helped a ton, I also did the radiator/condenser, thermostat, gauges, transmission mount, re-wired the transmission wires away from heat sources, spark plugs, oil pan spacer and pulled together a few loose ends while Johnny welded it up. Took us about 4 days to get her running. It was nice having a hand in the build and also great to have resources like Johnny, this forum, etc... I was happy when she started right up! These Comp turbos with the oil-less system have a break in period of about 500 miles because the center cartridge is packed full of some crazy grease/lube that is broken up from the coolant running through the turbo. I can actually hear the turbo spool down for a long time once the car is turned off, sounds like a plane shutting down...lol. I am @ 524 miles w/ this kit.

Well I'm kinda part of the fam in a way. I've known them for many years and it was a joint venture..... if you will. JTran really does treat their customers well, anyone who has ever dealt w/ them will vouch for that. It's a 3 person operation, gota give it to them for the projects that come out of that shop. Family style business, good stuff. Well respected in the industry and through-out our area. Lots of subies, evos and anything turbo basically.
|
thanks so Much Justin! thanks for entrusting us with your two past projects. Justin's old 350 ran like a champ. broke the kdws loose in fourth gear on the highway easy! Justin's is part of the family! he's been riding for us forever seems like now. ill see u tomorrow at the shop.....should be starting the old 350 up tomorrow and break in on the Dyno. as Justin said, its a three person operation. we are about to expand into bikes, our second passion in life LOL. regardless we keep up with our customers and go out of the way to try and make everyone happy. we are picking up our customers gtr in the morning from his house to get ready for the next track day event! the feroda pads don't last too long! gonna be throwing on some pagid yellows and trying those out.

can't wait to see this.... for those who don't know, I sold my old 350 to some teen from Florida who didn't know how to use a boost controller...needless to say he blew the motor and drove it into a ditch, now it has a new owner from South Dakota and it's hilarious because the car is back here at JTranns. I now have my new 370 w/ my old 350 in the same shop (they cuddle)....I'll be there 2mar to see her start up....fresh new engine, yummmy...Should make great power on the Mustang. Greddy w/ CJM ftw all day long.
|
The part about the cuddling mad me chuckle. So how goes the tune?
|
Car runs great, tune is spot on, driveability is great, still waiting on dumb greddy boost sensor. It's amazing how much the A/C fan cools down the water temp, just throwing that out there....lol. Sitting @ wastegate boost 6-7 psi still. I need new tires so bad and havn't had time, been a busy week. I'll post dyno charts when I up the boost to 10 - 10.50 psi. I'll have some driving footage and real pics done tomorrow with my old Z...... got a photographer friend.

Cool.....

Boost controller installed? Can't wait for the max #'s

Yea manual boost controller installed. No gauge still, it must be on back-order from the moon or something.... I'm going back to the Dyno this week regardless. We're going to plug up the mechanical gauge and set the boost. The Comp Turbo is fully broke in now, I can tell a big difference in sound and power. Just got new tires on this morning, trying to get some sound clips and driving footage posted up soon.

looks sick!

this may have been asked, but what are your goals? Not to flame but since you spent more than you would have on the S/C setup I'd go for 450whp and no less.

I understand, r&d can be risky, I know you mentioned earlier that Jtran hopes to reproduce this kit. My one issue would be this, with a single you will have lag, on a track you're probably going to have to constantly drive it on the edge to stay optimal boost.
|
his power band is 4k to 7k. to my understanding that's the power band alot of track guys run. even our customer with his gtr, he never stays below 4400 rpm. car will survive and be completely reliable even if he beats on it everyday

I went to Arby's, thought I'd turn on the cell phone video camera. Speed limit is 45 mph, so I didn't really get on it. I also did a walk around the car while at idle at the end of the video. You can get a good idea about drivability and how the car sounds. Hopefully I'll be posting a dyno video and other footage w/ a real camera this weekend. |
We have a guy intown that has already done a roll cage for the 370z, so that will probably be my next mod after I sell these WORK Equips and get a lighter smaller rim!
