:D

NYBladeZ 09-12-2011 03:28 PM

but it is highly recommended, as with all FI kits there are always options to upgrade with that will extend the performance and life of your setup.

DarkZide 09-12-2011 03:42 PM

Hell....s/c kit, radiator, oil cooler, this, that, the kitchen sink....about 15 grand for 500whp. I shoulda bought an 03/04 cobra or a GTR.

Yeah, if all you cared about was WHP. Most people spending this kinda money have a few more metrics than WHP. The 370Z is obviously not the platform to go with if that's your only consideration.

SPOHN 09-12-2011 04:26 PM

A lot of people don't know the maintence cost of a GTR either.

OMG37 09-12-2011 04:32 PM

I wouldn't even bother with a response for that guy...

blackonorange 09-12-2011 04:50 PM

Lol a cobra? Really? 03/04? Not even the good ones lol

SeeyaBud86 09-12-2011 05:00 PM

Sam, I would like to know more information about the new radiator.
Price?
Will it fit with the TT kits as well?
Looks great!

shaun66 09-12-2011 08:16 PM

Link doesn't work about auto tranny.

Liquid_G 09-12-2011 08:39 PM

Question for Sam or anyone else here..

So us Stage 1 guys are making like ~400-430whp and something like 320-340tq. :( Stage2 gets a big bump in HP but only seeing a small bump in tq numbers, 365 and 350 on the first 2 dyno's. Is that to be expected with an SC setup or is that just with our cars in general?

Also, any word on an upgrade path from Stage1 yet Sam?

XwChriswX 09-12-2011 08:41 PM

Would still like to see some more physical evidence that the LTH's can't work...

Otherwise awesome, and extremely technical write up.

A lot of good builds here.

It must just be our cars. The only builds that come close to making over 400 tq are TT builds running pretty high boost. I don't know if its just the engine or something to do with VVEL.

toner123 09-12-2011 09:31 PM

All I have to say is Crack the VVEL. Seem like us turbo guys have been forgotten about.

I sincerely believe that once this huge task is done everyone will stfu as the VQ will be able to show its true potential. Its been stated over and over, VVEL causes premature flow of exhaust from the combustion chambers. I expect the solution to be expensive and probably not come out till the end of the year at the earliest. Sam has been real quiet on the issue other than progress is being made and they are working on it. I also think that once you crack VVEL turbo guys will make way more torque sooner in the powerband and SC guys will get way more torque in general and we'll all collectively laugh at guys asking about 04 Cobras (granted it is my favorite mustang ever and I will get one post grad school) and GTRs. Until then I'll silently curse Nissan for this one huge hurdle.

definitionxmk 09-12-2011 10:57 PM

Just saw this... gratz Sam on the press release! The Z is holding real strong here in Hawaii and everyone is at awe with the kit =P

I'll be sending some customers your way soon ^_^

theaudir8fan 09-12-2011 11:54 PM

So this is where sam post all the good stuff first, damn. Also just to introduce myself, I'm the owner of the PG G35S HR that's in the press release. It is nice to see that most people is doing well with the kit.
Still i have done over 2000miles of driving the past 5 days mainly on the highways, and i can say that the kit is very powerful for sure. And i can report my mileage on the highway under the condition of doing a decent speed is in the high 19mpg.

GUTCH 09-13-2011 01:17 AM

Sam

Has a new installation manual for this kit been produced?

If so, can you please provide us with a link. Thanks.

What a press release Sam. You guys/ gals at GTM are truely inntovators. Especially with our cars. I like how you guys think ahead such as us guys who already have your oil coolers. Super A+ bro. Repped. Under drive pullies FTL. They really never served much purpose in my eyes anyways. I know you didn't state that but I am.

Does the manifolds have to be removed to install the new engine mounts or removed for any pupose to do the install?

Thank you, For just installing our mounts without the SC you don't have to remove the Exhaust manifold.

Sam

GUTCH 09-13-2011 05:09 AM

Thanks Sam. You da man!

Wondering where the 600whp dyno's are?
-Independent would be preferable.

the hell are you talking about? The 03/04 Cobra is arguably the best mustang cobra ever made.

A friend just bought one for 17k that has a whipple and makes 500whp.

You must be thinking of an 01 or something.

The 03/04 Cobra ran 12.9 out of the box. There are stock Z's doing that on here. Considering the Cobra makes 390hp/390tq out of the box the real weakness is in its IRS. Even with the whipple you'll make the #'s but you'll never put it down. You would have to swap out to a 2004 Mustang GT solid axle to get consistent traction. Of course if you do so you lose the little handling capabilities the IRS gave the 03/04 cobra. Undoubtedly a great car, 4.6L cast iron factory S/C but it won't be able to run with an S/C stg2 Z. Now if you want to talk about price and bang for the buck that's kind of dumb considering you're talking about a car almost 10 years old, of course the aftermarket is dirt cheap even by mustang standards now. The 03/04 Cobra is heavy, handles poorly and has nothing going for it except that engine which has been eclipsed by the new 5.0. Time to move on man, I was on the verge of getting a Cobra before the Z but I can't live in the past. 17K if not paid in full, will lead to an upside down auto loan, which blows!

Doubtful. I did a pile of high rpm clutch drops on my 01 GT with a 150 shot on too-big mickey's and it was fine....and it didnt have the bigger spline axles or rear that the cobra does. an IRS brace and itll be fine.

He just needs some decent tires, but even with crap tires nothing any of his friends have can come anywhere close....but yeah i'd hope a 30,000$ Z with 15,000$ in upgrades would beat a 17000$ cobra.

There is no Stage III from what I've read.

BHP? :icon17:
Please don't reply, until you get a clue.. :tiphat:

The Dimer 09-13-2011 11:28 AM

I'm pretty sure he has one. Sam can obviously set the record straight, but I'm pretty sure all of GTM's FI kits are rated in BHP.

travisjb 09-13-2011 11:42 AM

Apparently mine ships today...

Terrific press release, Sam!

Just assuming if there was that would be the only way to get to 600 Whp out of the box.

GUTCH 09-13-2011 12:03 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong...

GTM's TT press releases on here were originally in WHP. At the time their website also rated the TT kits in WHP.

The SC kits were always referred to in BHP, the website reflects this.

Now the website also shows the TT kits in BHP.

Hope that helps.
