With these engines there is a very thin line between perfect tune and bent rods. I wouldn't trust any tune under all conditions. The greatest way to increase likeliness of a blown engine is to just set-it-and-forget-it. High strung NA engines make real fun turbo motors but they don't need much an excuse to leave you with a $5000 rebuild

Keep in mind that although this engine has an 11:1 static compression, the dynamic compression is much lower then that . Especially with the valve lift and duration that the VVEL does and that is one of the reason thees engines like timing and have a higher detonation threshold then the older gen engines .

As for tuning this engine and sense we are tuning via MAF, Yes you can set it and forget it as long you have the right MAF curve, remember we are measuring grams/s of air and to have a little more air on cool night or less air on hot day is all within the ecu capabilities of compensation and achieving its AFR targets. These ecus are very consistent.
