Yup. The same thing keeps happening to me. I just can't sleep knowing there is still work to be done.

It is easier when I am out of town. At least that way I am no where near the car so it doesn't matter.

No. I'm keeping the Berk for now. I love the sound and don't want to deal with the drone of a 3" exhaust so I'll sacrifice a few ponies for that.

Damn, I am tired. Done for today. I'll be back at it on Tuesday.

Took a big step today.

Very cool!!! Mine is coming along also... Had an issue with the power steering bracket and have a fix in until sam gets me the right bracket. Just the intercooler piping and oil cooler left to go... Then it will be start up time for me...

SPOHN 05-14-2011 09:22 AM

So I know you have to remove the windshield fluid reservoir? So is it replaced and relocated with a smaller unit such as this one that GTM offers? If it wasn't replaced is the caution light thrown?

GTM Motorsports*::*ENGINE EXTERNALS*::*Windshield Washer Reservoir kit

I'm thinking of getting this to reduces weight and mass to help aid in when I get some brake cooling ducts. I can also reroute my oil lines.

I dont have any lights on that I noticed. I only took it for a short ride though.

I am not sure if I'll put a bottle back in there.

I wouldn't mind removing mine completely if it's not going to have some warning light on.

98intrigue 05-14-2011 03:40 PM

You won't get any kind of light. Mine has been removed as well.

Good job. Nice work on the install, and a great kit. I know it feels great to do it yourself. Reading this motivates me to go find something to do to my car.

XwChriswX 05-20-2011 05:03 PM

Did you have yours done at your buddy's shop?

Brazilbro 05-20-2011 11:41 PM

Nope, Had it done here in Noblesville - Automotive Specialists: DynoJet
I think it was like 100 bucks for 3 runs

Dembflyr 05-20-2011 11:45 PM

Thanks. I'll let you know when I get a chance to get over there.

BOLIO 671 05-21-2011 08:13 AM

Congrats Dave on completing the install..your car sounds crazy while it breezes through the RPM band so quickly...Your right abouth the Berk...cant even hear it anymore...I wonder if you would still be able to hear it from the outside as your car passes by....BTW...did your kit come with the Racelogic traction control?

Thanks.

Once the waste gate opens there is no chance of hearing anything. The video doesn't really do it any justice.
If I stay off the boost it sounds similar to when I just had HFC's.

No, I didn't go with the traction control. I need to spend that money on a clutch soon.

Cell 05-21-2011 09:11 AM

That honda civic was actually louder than your car lol.

Dembflyr 05-27-2011 04:41 PM

I just got back from a little road trip. I went up to Michigan to go to my nephews high school graduation.

The Z was great. Such a joy to have zero drone at highway speeds.

I got about 22 MPG during the trip. That is mostly highway but I did get on it quite a bit. I think that if I was really smooth and stayed out of the boost I could get close to 25-26.
But what fun is that??

I haven't gotten the new springs for the waste gates so I'm kinda babying it a bit. Still haven't floored it.

I think I may install the recirc pipes after all. I like the sound but it's getting annoying. I think it may sound better going thru the exhaust. We'll see how that goes when I get the springs.

I got 23.8 MPG on the way down to the Dragon from MD and 23 MPG on the way back up (I was going faster on the way back up). And staying out of the Boost is no fun...

superchargedg 05-28-2011 07:43 PM

Congrats on the install as i know of the bloody fingers and knuckles and how big was the smile on your face when you first got on it....i will never forget mine.

Dzel 05-28-2011 08:14 PM

I can't wait till I get mine!

Dembflyr 06-14-2011 10:56 PM

Got a little update.
I've been driving the car but still being easy as I was waiting for the new wastegate springs to arrive.
They came today but instead of getting 10psi springs I got 5. I wanted to stay up around 10.
I had already removed the wastegates from the car in anticipation of installing the new springs and I was going to try to intall the recirc pipes. The open dumps were fun for a little while but I want to see if the car sounds better under acceleration with the recirc pipes installed.
While I had them out I noticed that I had plugged both top ports on the wastegates. Not sure how I didn't notice that but I think that is why I am a little high on boost. I'm not sure if my thinking is right here but it seems that by blocking the top ports the diaphragm can't move all the way because of the air that is trapped. Seems to me that it would act like a stiffer spring is in there and allow the boost to climb.
Like I said, I don't know for sure.

So here is where things get frustrating.

I tried to install the recirc pipes again and just can't get them to line up. They leak on both sides. I followed Sam's advice but still can't seem to make it work.

The real crappy part is when I tried to remove them I wound up stripping the allen head and my socket. Then I tried to remove the wastegate so that I can get to the stripped allen and the threads seem to be messed up on one of those too. I think I tightened it too much.

So I gave up for the night. I am going to get on it first thing in the morning and at least get it back to the way I had it. That way I can see if the over boost problem is fixed.
