Yet another GTM SC Build thread. DIY style

Sup guys... So i wanted to post up some pics and comments about my GTM SC install. Posted this up to our local Z forum already but wanted to share with you all too. I'm 100% done with all the parts that need to be installed. Waiting on the Tune from Sam (should have today) and I should be able to start some break in miles..

We (the wife and I) did this install ourselves. I'd consider myself mechanically inclined, but definitely no mechanic. we've done coilover installs on all our cars, fitted body kits, exhausts/intakes etc but this is for sure the biggest project we have tackled. It has been fun and definitely a learning experience.

All total, the install took roughly 35 hours. I'm sure there is some slack time in there for beer/pizza breaks etc.. but the majority of the work was done over this past 3 day weekend.

GTM's instructions were friggin awesome. There wasn't really anything in the install guide that left you saying, wtf this is wrong, how do I do this etc.. Seeing the install guide beforehand was probably the biggest factor in deciding to DIY this. They did a great job putting that together.

Anyways on to the pics. Enjoy!

Here's my Z, it's been sleeping in the garage since December, its about to get tore up... :)

The first step of the install is to replace the fuel pump, it was like 20 degrees outside, so I just wanted to get it done, never got any pics of that, had to keep the garage open while we did that because of the fumes.. but i'm sure everyone knows what a fuels pump looks like..

Teardown pics..

strut bar, engine compartment covers removed.

Up on jackstands.. Washer bottle, Bumper cover and bumper support removed. Gen3 intakes removed.

Fans and serpentine belt removed.

trying to keep everything organized.

Random garage shot.. that heater kept us warm throughout the process.

PS cooler, Oil cooler removed.

http://www.jdmgallery.com/wp-content...2/IMG_0001.jpg

Alternator and PS pump out.. PS lines disconnected. The PS lines are easily the toughest part of the install.. They run down next to the framerail and exhaust manifold heat sheild on the passenger side, and there is very little room to work down there..

http://www.jdmgallery.com/wp-content.../IMG_00021.jpg

That's all the tear down phase.

Next step was pulling the intake manifold and replacing the injectors.. super easy. unfortunately didn't get a pic of that. The one I took came out messed up..

Next thing was dealing with the PS lines again, you have to connect new flexible lines to the hardlines, as the the PS Pump gets moved up a bit. You can see them here: (silver braid and soft braided line)

Next is the SC itself. attached the oil fittings to it, mounted up the bracket and put it in place. the main SC intake pipe is set behind it temporarily while you mount the SC.

Intakes piping again in engine bay.

http://www.jdmgallery.com/wp-content...2/IMG_0028.jpg

replaced my radiator hose with a set of mishimoto silcone hoses.
Also lucked out because I already had the holes cut for the Gen3 intakes, I didn't need to re-do them for these.

Filters and by-pass valve installed. I think I need to adjust that filter on the bottom, looks a little low.

http://www.jdmgallery.com/wp-content...2/IMG_0038.jpg

re-used my oil cooler, GTM sells a "supplement kit" that lets you use the same core, just new lines/brackets/thermostat to move it over.

Thats really about it.. I topped off all the fluids, primed the SC with oil/compressed air to make sure it doesn't start dry. Gave it a start and after leveling out the SC oil everything looks great. No leaks, no weird noises, etc. pretty happy how it came out.. Now I just can't wait to drive it!

Nice job man! Looks perfect! I'm really stoked to see this done by a DIY guy. I spent a lot of hours working with our development department, parts department and photographer to write and revise those instructions and I'm so happy to see it pay off.

Again, mad props to you for doing this install.

:happydance:
