UPDATE --------------------------

Customer opted to run test pipes on the car so we threw a set of the GTM resonated test pipes and went back on the dyno with the same tune same gas. Here are the results with some pics .

Better HP and torque and no effect on the tune, Also no rasp and it did not sound bad art all .

How do you hit peak boost at 5500 rpm and hold peak without building more boost to 7500? Is it becuase the recirc valve opens at 8 psi? Ive never seen a centrifugal setup hit peak boost before redline, usually they keep building pressure. If theres something I dont know (probably the case), is there a way to make a larger higher flowing compressor hit peak (8psi) boost even sooner and hold it to redline? Either way, thats pretty bad ***. Are the kits workable with the LTH yet? PSI/Power drops?

One_Quick_Z 12-31-2010 03:54 AM

Wow this is great results!

Any update on the 7AT issue?

Yup, Charger SRT8

G37sHKS 12-31-2010 05:47 AM

Himi dodge charger..:)

It sad to see a SC loss infront of HIMI..

I can hear the HIMI engine in that video :p

ImportConvert 12-31-2010 05:52 AM

How much of a gain would a good tune on this car net?

Very clean install!

G37sHKS 12-31-2010 06:37 AM

from a stock?

just over 150 HP :D

SRT8 had to have had some mods to keep up with that car. They aren't that fast stock. Low 13's/high 12's at about 107-109 or so is about the best you will see from a stocker.

I can't wait to hear from all the little goodie-goodies about *GASP!* A streetracing vid, though, lol.

cdoxp800 12-31-2010 07:55 AM

Very Impressive Sam. I just have one question. What springs are on the car. I am hoping to pick up my 2011 Nismo today. I have been reviewing all the springs and this Nismo look perfect.

Loving the SC too. Not to bad for 8psi. Makes the car so much more playful. Very nice balance of power.

destinyZ 12-31-2010 08:08 AM

good job GTM:tup:

Car look great Sam, good job.

Flyboy 12-31-2010 10:26 AM

power looks so smooth. Love it. It doesn't look like you were getting on it VS. the HEMI...

Zat_Zuma 12-31-2010 11:01 AM

Another fine project completed by GTM.

Good job Sam! and to the GTM's crew.

RCZ 12-31-2010 11:06 AM

Looks good. I gotta ask though, is this thing wastegated?? Whats with the boost tapering?

djpathfinder 12-31-2010 11:26 AM

Thanks for posting, Sam! :driving:

it has a lot to do the VVEl and the VE of the VQ37VHR engine, same blower on a VQ35HR is doing 14 psi and over 470RWHP .

I don't think there is any issues with the 7AT, driving habits has a lot to do with it .

Not sure what are you seeing, It is making solid boost all the way to red line and even hitting 9 psi at times.

Just out of curiousity, what habits should 7AT guys avoid that cause these issues?

Z eliminator 12-31-2010 03:47 PM

Do not drive like Shumby's wife.
Do not let your wife drive the car.

Looks and sounds great. My interest is sparked.

Any idea if and when this SC will get a Carb Cert. ?

Sam, what was the outside temperature when you were making these runs?

Sam

^^Agreed. 4th gear in the 7at will bring you to ~190km/hr already, there really isn't a need to juice the car with 5/6/7... Unless you're tracking, then why not get 6mt for tracking...

nixxer 01-01-2011 09:47 AM

Im curious to know if the 'VQ Hiss' is still there with SC setups. I know on TT setups its gone, but I just figured thats because there an impeller in the way acting as an accoustic modifier/ back pressure. Does the additional airflow and temperatures get rid of the hiss, or at least lessen it? Or, prehaps just as good, can you not tell because the SC sound and recirc valve is THAT awesome? :icon18:

theDreamer 01-01-2011 11:15 AM

I still have the hiss, LTHs+exhaust.
A TT setup will remove it as you say, but a SC setup has the same exhaust setup so the only difference is the volume going through it.

Kastley85891 01-01-2011 02:31 PM

Looks fun - needs an 8K redline.

God Dam it.... like a S2 kit here for sure.......
Theres an SRT8 up the street that needs spanking bad....

Sam

He's referencing the same thing as the earlier poster--it's unusual to see a centrifugal SC hit "peak" boost before peak RPMs. Either there is some sort of bypass valve letting boost out, or what you are saying is this SC will never make more than 9 psi (with the given the pulley) due to some aspect of the engine.

This is your best video yet, that Nismo sounds awesome. Not like any of your other videos are bad in the least.

RCZ 01-02-2011 11:05 AM

I love how you add in the speedo, revs and boost. Really adds a whole different dimension to these videos!
