Sam has a get out of jail free card lol. Just ask him hehehe the area there in doesn't have a lot of cops out patrolling and it's warehouse and industrial space... So not much traffic. I was doing pretty fast in my rental car around there. I just like how the dodge tried to make a run on the nismo while it was sitting still and Sam just rolled right past his butt like ok buh bye!

JJ-NISMO 01-28-2011 02:48 PM

Sam, what kind of springs / coilovers did that Nismo have ?

Great work btw :)

JJ-NISMO 01-28-2011 02:49 PM

Also, can you PM me the total cost for the set-up and install on that SC? Thanks

Do not let your wife drive the car.

Sending this link to my wife. expect a phone call soon.

As for the driving habits it was the upper gears that failed. 5,6, & 7. Where i use my power is on the hiway say driving at 130km/hr then hammering it. this after meny miles took its toll on the upper gears.

sylenze 01-28-2011 03:48 PM

sam, i was wondering where did you guys place the oil cooler for this set up?

wishihadnav 01-31-2011 01:20 PM

^oil cooler is in front of the left fender liner..you can see a pic of it in the vid.

Red__Zed 01-31-2011 03:55 PM

nasty.

lmacasiljig 01-31-2011 04:50 PM

+1 amazing setup. Kinda scary to walk/cross in that street with a car running like 100mph.

weiboy718 01-31-2011 05:31 PM

I was there last weekend and The speed limit on local streets are 50mph

JB-370z 01-31-2011 07:19 PM

I have to say, these videos just keep getting better and more high quality. And what people really want to see, car in action not just car on dyno. Great job Sam, I love it!

RockStarKick 01-31-2011 08:44 PM

Clean install.. Looks like it should of came from factory like that..

Not impressed with the rwhp #'s. Shumbys car made more rwhp / lb of boost that the nismo did. 414 STD = 397 SAE. on a 6 mt. @ 8lbs. Shumby made 390 STD = 379 SAE @ 6 lbs on a 7 AT. There is a much bigger drive line loss with the 7 AT vs the 6 MT. My N/A makes 309 rwhp SAE. with bolt ons and it a 7 AT. ( 320 STD rwhp @ 700 ft)
Sam what is the elevation of your shop ( ft above sea level).
It will be interesting to see what i make when my Stage 2 gets here.
I was out testing the GTM torque converter on sunday. Car pulls harder with it but it still needs a higher stall speed. The outside temp was 22 degrees. It ran very well especially between 7000 to 8100 rpm. No oil temp issues that day.

Buy a turbo then!
For the note, I have driven the SC z and it is nice, just can't feel the tq like the turbos have. With being a drag strip dude, I would have thought turbo would have been the setup for you.

Actually, the one dyno pull I saw posted that had them back to back, there was only a 5 HP difference.

C-38 - 91 STAGE 2 GTM. I just ran a 12.721 1/4 mile time this saturday at the track with bolt on's. ( in drag section) and it a 7 AT.
When I get the stage 2 it will go close to mid 11's, (11.5 to 11.6.)
Now crank it up to 10 lbs boost and who knows how fast it will go.
I hope that it can make 500 rwhp or more.
" soon to be a stock GTR's worst night mare."
We will just have to wait for Sam to get my SC shipped to me.

I just didnt like how the motor seemed to shiver right before letting off the throttle at about 1:20ish on the dyno pull, any comments.......maybe its just this afghani internet that im using .......but either way im a future customer SAM......just waiting on the bank account to say OK!

That wasn't the motor, but the whole car. It was probably from the straps on the Dyno. They provide a lot of pressure to make sure the car doesn't move off the rollers.

I don't know.....the motor seemed to shake back and forth and nothing else

Doesn't every motor do that? Hence the flex pipe on the exhaust?
Given the cylinder positions and motor orientation Honda does front to back, Ours do side to side no?

Yes they do all torque under power transfer....just miight be my internet and a bad gap between video and audio but it seems to start shaking before he even lets off the throttle......iono probably my bad internet out here

Staples 04-12-2011 09:27 PM

Also could be the soft motor mounts.

CARB Cert Update PLease

So someone asked about Carb Cert and there was no reply to it.
Can someone at GTM please respond to what the situation is with that as well as a time-frame for getting certification?

also the gtm literature only states carb pending for the stage zero kit. what about the other stage kits?

And will the same restrictions apply for carb certified kits as the stillen? ie. the tune that the kit comes with is locked and cannot be changed? or am i confused about the stillen kit?

I'm about to purchase a new out of state nismo but that requires smog check to register so i'm assuming i will fall into the every two year smog requirement vs not having to smog for 6 years if vehicle is purchased in ca.
This may be a big deal for me if that is the case.

thanks for any info.

We are working on getting CARB approval for our Stage 0 kit. We will not be seeking CARB approval for the Stage 1 and 2 kits.

CARB Certification takes time and quite frankly, we don't know how much longer it is going to take. We will be announcing it once we have it though.

The Stage 0 kit (aka the CARB kit) will have a CARB specific tune and will be locked in the sense that the maps cannot be modified by anyone else.

weiboy718 04-14-2011 01:42 PM

Great! I always thought my kit was the carb kit

prescott3656 04-14-2011 03:22 PM

Is the tune the only difference between the stage 0 and stage 1 kit?

The main difference will be the pulley size.

Sam

rean1mator 04-14-2011 04:36 PM

so are you for sure running the carb tune?
is the carb tune the same as some one out of the state of california would get if they got a packaged tune/kit from you? and has it been proven to be reliable?

i would hate to purchase this kit with the expectation that this kit will pass carb testing only to find out the tune was not carb approved and that a carb approved tune causes issues similar to what you experienced with the Stillen kit.

i have no complaints even if it's not a carb kit. it drives good, performs fantastic! i'll worry about the emissions/smog check later when time comes.
