That would be called the game of "find the smog inspectors who 'forget' the visual inspection" since a SC'ed Z with cats would still pass the sniffer from what I heard.

shumby 11-14-2010 03:06 PM

or just more out of the nanny state you live in.

RCZ 11-14-2010 04:17 PM

Well, I think South Florida should detach from the rest of Florida, they are seriously holding us back. We'll just call ourselves "Miami" and officially join South America, since its still unofficial now.

Yeah, I can see how people could find places that "forget" to do visual inspections. I used to have this problem when I lived in the NE. Nothing a little cash can't fix. I hear the penalties are huge out in Cal. though and that cops can also pull you over and do their own inspections. Sucks. Down here in FL you have to be doing something "wrong" to get pulled over, otherwise they would have to pull over every ferrari on the road.

You are right RC, it can be a major hassle out here which is one of the perks of installing a CARB approved kit; you don't have to deal with the headaches. But, as with many things, there are ways to get around these things and in all honesty I cannot believe some people are able to drive some of the cars on the roads out here without getting harassed by police constantly i.e. super duper hella flush cars yet they do.

You have to love how motorcycles, trucks, and commercial vehicles are practically unregulated though... Nice priorities eh?

RCZ 11-14-2010 07:21 PM

Yeah, sadly we probably make up about .1% of car related pollution, yet we get hammered on the most only because we are the most visible. The man is keeping us down...man! And by us, I mean you, California.

you're wrong on that one buddy! i'm in the trucking industries and they're strict as hell on commercial vehicles especially the trucks who drives within the ports. any truck that has an 2002 engine and below must have a retrofit exhaust system otherwise they cannot operate within the port and when 2013 rolls around all them trucks without the particulate filter cannot operate in CA. CHP and CARB is always checking for smoking trucks, they come out to the Port of Oakland and road block us and perform inspection on the spot and i also heard that commercial trucks will soon need to smog it lol.
