FSP: Stillen Supercharger Installation

Hey guys, I figured I would share some pics of our latest project, a 2010 370Z fitted with the Stillen SC kit. Hunter wanted some extra power for the road course, but did not want the added complexity and costs associated with a twin turbo setup. We decided that the Stillen kit was just the right fit for his goals, and went to work on his Z. We have not been able to tune for wide open throttle due to a bug in our particular ECU ROM. We're currently working with Jarad at Uprev to resolve, and then it is off to the dyno :)

2010 Z34 6MT Sport Package
*Stillen Supercharger Kit
*Custom Failsafe Performance UpRev tune
*GTM / FSP 25 row oil cooler kit
*Berk Technology test pipes
*Saclam catback exhaust
*Tein Mono Flex coilover suspension
*SPC front & rear camber kit w/ rear toe bolts
*Defi Racer boost gauge
*Innovate LC-1 wideband gauge

Here are a few installation pics. Dyno tuning and videos to come soon! Enjoy :)

sick install! congrats to the owner and hopefully you guys figure out the bug soon!

you guys are very lucky to be able to use the 25 row oil cooler. us G37 don't have enough room for that and only able to fit the 19 row. sucks!

specZ 08-09-2010 10:51 PM

Beautiful install pics... This is seriously tipping me towards buying this kit sooner rather than later.

LateralG'z 08-09-2010 10:56 PM

Those are some good looking pics Chris!

LateralG'z 08-09-2010 11:07 PM

Have started the second Stillen kit yet? OKC must be getting excited

DIGItonium 08-09-2010 11:27 PM

Holy cow man... that's one very clean install. I'd like to see pictures of your TT build :-)

It is really sweet, it was what made me choose to purchase the kit and have Chris install it

Why did you decided to flip the oil cooler? The lines were pointing down in the first set of pics...

Where do you see that?

We had to move the cooler down a bit to fit under the intakes, which put the fittings too low.

Chris_1 08-10-2010 09:55 AM

Thats good though, that shows you saw a potential issue and fixed it. Some shows here in miami see it as, "OK that part is done, whats next?" and dont give a second though to little things like the fittings being to low. Great install, I hope I can keep bugging the owner here to supercharge the Roadster haha.

LiquidZ 08-10-2010 10:15 AM

How are the intakes secured? From all of the pictures I have seen, it looks as if they are hanging there.

They are not supported by a bracket or anything, but once all of the hose clamps are tightened down, it is pretty secure. The tubing is so short and the assembly is so light that I suppose Stillen didn't see a need for a support piece.

DannyGT 08-10-2010 10:38 AM

Good deal...I only asked because I loved how clean the oil cooler and lines sat before the install. But it makes sense...definitly dont want anything hitting those fitting!

That is scary IMO. I can easily see something coming loose or a hose coupler failing after repeated impacts from pot-holes or bumps taken at speed.

I'm an engineer by day, and I don't care how light-weight something is, it still needs support. The fact of the matter is that that the intake still has weight, and that weight is positioned a few inches from that coupling, which causes a bending moment. I don't see why Stillen wouldn't take the extra effort to ensure it is secure? It just seems lazy to me...

Thanks for answering my question, FSP. The install does look good though.

I'm not sure about you guys but mines came with a plate that prevents the Intake from falling.

RCZ 08-10-2010 02:51 PM

Umm...those things are on there tight...they are not going anywhere. I know what you mean LiquidZ, but those coming off is not a realistic concern IMO. I'm sure even if the clamp loosened and came off, you would still need a screw driver to pry the damn thing off the inlet.

Awesome build, hopefully Uprev will figure this one out soon...

Nope. I'm working with a firm dealing primarily with some major construction projects for the local wastewater plants.

LateralG'z 08-10-2010 05:49 PM

Poo water, sounds like fun

weiboy718 08-10-2010 06:13 PM

as long as it pay's good i wouldn't mind cleaning it at all haha.

LiquidZ 08-10-2010 06:54 PM

The wastewater plants have some of the biggest superchargers too

I wanna be a civil engineer, design septic tanks for playgrounds, so little kids can take shits.

Chris@FsP 08-10-2010 09:33 PM

Red, does Shittown USA happen to be located within the OK state lines?

I wish, apparently Stillen is not shipping the kit until the tune is worked out. So, now my car is sitting at Failsafe collecting dust. :shakes head:

I was just looking at it and wondering what Stillens issue is, you can finish the kit and send the tune. you dont need the tune to assemble the kit. You sure have a spotless looking Z.

You are one crazy ***hole. You crack me up. BACK ON TOPIC PEOPLE!!!!!

So hopefully we will be back at the Dyno Friday night or Saturday. Uprev should get us going soon.

In regards to the intake sitting free like that...We made a change to that a few weeks ago (maybe actually a month or two ago) that should have been updated with new parts and instructions. We have since changed it so there is a secondary support for the intakes.

Chris- I will have Dean call you in the morning and get you the updated information.

how come no dyno numbers or graphs? was the results not what you expected? is that why you're asking RCZ what octane he ran his dyno at? please update thanks dude

Haha, things are good, but we are still working with Stillen on somethings. I will let Chris handle this question. I am have been driving the car for the past three days before we really post anything we want to make everything is OK. So far so good, I am loving it right now. No oil leaks, the car temps are great in the OK heat, I Pulled GT500 from 40 to 100 on the highway yesterday night. I am pretty sure I caught him off guard and got the jump on him.

This thread was made before we got it on the dyno, that's why there are no numbers or dyno graphs in the OP.

We have since taken it on the dyno. This kit shipped with the revised pulley, and did not put down the hp we were looking to get (389whp). We are waiting on Stillen to ship us an original spec pulley so we can get back on the dyno and shoot for a little better numbers.

Note the 98 degree ambient and low humidity so air density was low compared to Stillens Dyno conditions

96bigbody 08-18-2010 09:17 PM

Would love to see any kind of street or track numbers. Have an iphone and the track apps?

de_dust 08-19-2010 12:13 AM

thank you very much for the update. were you guys able to monitor the psi the pulley was making? or are you deciding to increase the psi to get to LateralGz desired power?
