Since I'm in a bit of a crunch and cannot afford technical challenges beyond the TT setup, I'm going to hold off the VR38 plenum project for awhile. I was really hoping for something similar to Mike's setup with BOVs located in the engine bay.
Technically speaking (i.e. aesthetics notwithstanding), you don't want the BOVs in the engine bay. You want them before the intercooler. There is no point in heat soaking the intercooler with air that you are going to then vent after the intercooler, but before the combustion chamber i.e. air that is never going to be combusted. It may not matter much in the end, but if you want the highest system efficiency, then you don't want to cool air you don't have to.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I wondered about the location of the BOVs in the HR versus VHR kits leading to Mike's setup.

BOVs on a GTM kit are already on the cold side of the IC. It's just a matter of moving them closer towards the TBs. They did it on this one:

Check these pics and follow the pipes.

This build came up in conversation twice in the Formula Drift Pro/Am garage in Charlotte, NC yesterday. Conversations were about what HP the 35DE, 35HR, and 37 engines can do with turbos (stock vs built) - conversation one was about comparing to Sikky LSx swaps and conversation two was about comparing to the R35 platform. I wasn't sure what the top HP dynos are currently on the 370, but knew that you guys have been shooting to be the first to 1000hp on the 370 for a while now.

I haven't been on here long enough to know - and I hope this question isn't too far off-topic, but what's the most HP that anyone's seen so far on a dyno sheet for the 370 platform? I'm just wondering how much of a leap forward this 1000+hp build represents compared to the next highest?

Thanks!

Welcome!

From a quick search, I honestly have not seen a 370Z make more than 600whp (stock block). The highest boost is no more than 12 PSI. Take a look at the torque curve from these motors as the boost gets increased... interesting?

500whp
The Specialty-Z GTM Stage 2 Build
GTM TWIN TURBO kit: 2009 370Z 539WHP/490RWTQ-WATER INJECTED TORQUE MONSTER
Gtm 370z twin turbo transformation 548rwhp 486rwtq @ 11 psi

However, this is probably the most I've seen from a VQ37 stock block:
GT Motorsports: GTM Stage 2 TT G37 Coupe, GTM 3" Cat-Back, GTM Flash, 611RWHP/474RWTQ

It is a pretty freaking big jump. I haven't seen anything in the 700 range even.

The power and torque curves look identical even as the boost goes up, hp is still climbing at the end of every run regardless of the psi being run which is pretty impressive.

What I think is interesting is how the torque curve hits the ceiling at 400 lb-ft at 4k RPM at 12 PSI, but maybe there are other factors since this stuff is way over my head tee hee.

I bet that has a lot to do with VVEL, especially as it applies to supercharged setups. But I guess that is just speculative until some real world results from GTM come out, it will be very interested to see what kind of gains cracking VVEL will give not only to FI guys but also N/A setups.

Holy crap... I wonder how GTM is doing with the intake manifold and collector. After watching this video... I can't imagine simply slapping this thing onto our engines O_o
