no valve body? no torque converter? etc etc?

I would assume you need a valve body right?

You can't just "tune the tranny" to handle all that extra power. Physically, it can't... for very long at least. shumby can attest to that.

yeah I know that, but Z1 says there is no more slippage and what a different after tuning the transmission, So i just wanted to make my self clear.

I've heard of tuning ECUs etc. But can someone please explain what tranny tuning is? Thanks.

Anytime.

Its my car......I am the owner

A few answers: 1. I wasnt running and gunning when the trans problems occurred but this usually happened on longer drives (over 2 hours). 2. John and Z1 do top notch work and this problem is fixed (so far). 3. I am very pleased with the quality of work by Z1 and with the performance of the car. 4. I have about 8700 miles on the car now and the tranny is fine (so far). 5. The car is closer to 500 rwhp after the last Z1 tune. 6. I race locally quite a bit, so the car is being pushed.

All this being said, the car is a beast and has not been beaten yet. Someone said something about a Z06 and I will say I have not raced one yet. I will add that the race will be closer than you might think and my money (and probably Johns) would be on the Z winning. John will tell you that I am a modest guy, not a junk talker. Until you actually ride in THIS car, you have no idea how it feels and runs.

BTW, even considering all the challenges of this install......I would still choose the 7AT over the 6MT for the TT. Not hating....just saying.

Wow, thanks!!

Is my theory correct that the problem is rescaled load values lead to excessive gear hunting, and eventual failure? Or was it something similar like a need to change the firmness of shifts?

If so, then yes, this issue can be avoided with tuning rather than upgrading hard parts in the trans.

Although a bigger trans fluid cooler is probably a good idea...

ECU tuning involves adjusting shift up and shift down points (based on calculated load and probably TPS) as well as shift firmness due to the rate line pressure is allowed to build -- both can be controlled by the ECU to the best of my knowledge.

Mechanical tuning could involve anything from retooling components in the torque converter to spin faster, rasing the stall speed, changing the clutch bands, adjusting the valve body, changing out the solenoid that control line pressure, etc.

That said, I think they were referring to changes in the ECU.

Yes there is. The car was not pulling timing. It has clocked about 4k on the mileage. He drove it to PC last week and is loving it. The owner Kerry drives it 0-60 as much as possible. But his brother beats on it when he drives it. His brother has an SS camaro but uses the Z to beat up on people. After tuning the tranny with the Osiris there has not been anymore limp mod. We also added a vented hood to let engine heat escape.

Love this hood!!
