Stillen designed and sells this kit. They SHOULD HAVE done enough testing on different vehicles to catch any tuning related problems. This is 100% on Stillen - don't even try to place the blame with someone else.

Have you seen the other thread with the Stillen kit that doesn't work because uprev software is having issues with a certain ROM? That's Stillen's fault too?

I don't disagree that the software is part of the kit and therefore Stillen is at fault as it is being sold by them. I'm not trying to point any fingers, I'm trying to figure out, like everyone else, why this is going on.

I don't think Stillen is unable to tune for this kit, I think the variations from situation to situation are causing problems. (ie. Different ROMS) That's why everyone that is custom tuned has no issues...

There are definitely bugs to be ironed out and I'm glad Stillen has the resources to do so..

Careful there on that statement, mine is a custom tune and my ROM is all jacked up. But I can agree that uprev is having issues

There doesnt seem to be anyone on this forum or the g35/37 forum that has custom tuned the kit using the uprev software and gotten the same results that u have. Tell us the secret to tune it;)
Are u using the old pully or the new one? If you are using the new pully have u had a chance to dyno it?

kinda wondering why Stillen didnt use a Cobb AP to tune the kit... AAM used one for their TT kit and from what I can tell, has turned out pretty damn good.

Nothing against Cobb but for the 350z Uprev > Cobb, and since Cobb seems to be less interested in the 370z support again it will be Uprev > Cobb.
It takes time to get tuning right and this car is still fairly new.

that may be so, but it appears Uprev might have screwed the pooch on this one, the AP hasnt had any problems yet with its tuning ability.

Well considering only a few Cobb tunes have been done out there and one with FI?
Neither has Uprev, this is the first instance of problems which looking closer I have one question. LateralZ, how new is your Z? It is a 2010, which may mean Uprev just had not gotten your version of the ECU in house to unlock and verify no changes by Nissan yet.

GTM uses UPREV without any issues so far, so I don't think you should discredit UPREV. I think Cobb seems very limited in how much fine tuning you can actually do.

Not at all, same parameters can be adjusted. Nobody discredited anyone btw.

March 2010, they had my ecu in April and we had some minor issues, they made an update on their website but it still has issues. So they have had it for a long time. I trouble shoot all sorts of custom HVAC equipment everyday at work and all it takes is one small line of code and things go nuts. Most of my troubles at work come from controls.

Last I heard AP is not doing anything with 370Z anymore, they are focusing on the GTR and other boosted set-ups evo, wrx but that is just something I heard so take with a grain of salt.

the AP itself will not have any further updates, however the AP Race software can still be applied to tune anything you need to.

xbigb4ller69z 08-10-2010 05:19 PM

So the potential issue with a custom tune could be only on the 2010's because of the rom itself? Too new perhaps?

Did you use AP? I have zero experience with it so I have no idea about its abilities just read or heard from shops
