** little off topic here but** since im doing this im having an oilcooler installed at the same time. i'm being charged 400 for the oilcooler which is reasonable and average price. but $400 for the install, is that reasonable ?
does anyone know how many hours it takes to install an oilcooler ? |
I don't think thats reasonable.... I installed mine alongside my shop (I like to wrench with them) and It should go something like this...in a perfect world.
Bumper off 15 mins Oil out 5mins If you have to relocate power steering cooler 10 mins Mount cooler to car 10 minutes run and tidy up the lines 10 mins complete oil change 10 mins test run check for leaks 5 mins Bumper back on 15 mins Done 1.3-1.5 hours @ normal shop rate of $80-$90/hr = ~$135 + tax $145. Things aren't going to go 100% right the first time and there will be time wasted so throw in another $65 easily. I'd say somewhere around $200 is more fair. Now where oh where are those idling videos? |

It's just a matter of time, tuning and testing. Some of these will be a little bit, and some may not be possible at all, but they will all be looked at. |
Kyle, pm sent!

I would still like to hear the Stillen S/C kit at idle and on the dyno without all the music dubbed in, i'm :stirthepot:really interested in how much supercharger whine there is.

UPDATE: So we keep getting a lot of phone calls regarding the carbon fiber engine cover and I have to ask for some patience on this. It is going to happen, and it will happen soon, but it's not a priority at this time. The main test car is still being driven around and is involved in testing and I am not going to interfere with the R&D process just to make the engine cover. Fabrication of the engine cover will take a couple of weeks and I really don't want to shut everything down for a couple of weeks just to build the cover.
We will start working on it VERY soon but it's still a month or two away from going into production. In regards to the video, I screwed up...I didn't put the microphone on the camera and it sounds TERRIBLE. There is static and background noise from the radio and the air compressor in the shop as well planes flying in the background (remember we're literally on the John Wayne Airport runway)...Josh has been nice enough to not say that I messed up but I did...We will re-do the video soon with the microphone attached and get everything squared away. Give me a few days to get that wrapped up. In the meantime, perhaps some of the guys who went to the Cerritos meet last weekend could comment on the sound of the blower at idle? Thanks for your patience and understanding! |
