1. What kind of aluminum did you use in your castings? Is it heat treated?

3. What size was the mandrel you used when bending the intake tube?

^ Nice, 1 post and signed up today. First post is directed at Kyle on first name basis. Very specific questions about the manufacturing process. Not suspicious or anything.

lmao. Good questions though! I definitely wanted to know about the thermal properties of the powdercoating and the mandrel they used.

At least it will be a high quality Taiwanese knock-off! :icon17:

I know on your 350 package for Stage 2 you offer a 3 year warranty on the kit. Will there be a similar option for this? Pretty much only way I can squeeze it in.

JB-370z 03-12-2010 03:25 PM

Lets get some videos please!!!!

Zsteve 03-12-2010 03:28 PM

in for warranty info also.

cptspeed 03-12-2010 03:33 PM

After laying down a deposit, How much time do we need to come up with the balance?:yum:

Kyle@STILLEN 03-12-2010 03:53 PM

Hey Guys,

Just a quick post for right now asking for a bit of understanding and patience. We see all of your questions and we plan on answering them, we're just trying to get some time to give appropriate attention to each question.

RCZ 03-12-2010 03:55 PM

In for videos too :) I can't wait to see this thing in action!

FuszNissan 03-12-2010 04:10 PM

Looks nice, glad you don't have to get a new hood :woot:

>135I 03-12-2010 04:22 PM

Its, its, SO BEAUTIFUL. I want one soooooooooooo bad...

CBRich 03-12-2010 04:31 PM

Looks beautiful. And if anyone reads my post can we at least try to keep this post clean and only pertaining to the kit itself. There is another thread for comparisons between this and the GTM kit.

Sorry bud, speed reading FAIL. You probably have until right before they start shipping in late April. Typical Stillen practice for expensive items is to authorize your credit card to make sure your good for it and then actually bill you on the ship day.

LiquidZ 03-12-2010 05:08 PM

Excellent Job Stillen. I knew you wouldn't let us down.

Agreed. This will quickly become a 400 page thread filled mostly of excited little interjections about people wishing they could have one. I wish there was a way an admin could cull the meaningless posts so we can come back and just read what Kyle and the Stillen crew have posted or responded to helpful questions. (This post will self destruct in 1 day)

Yes, that will happen. Welcome to the internet.

An option to them is to either create a locked thread and simply edit the first post of the thread with updated information, or create a moderated thread in the vendor sub-forum.

Togo 03-12-2010 05:54 PM

If this was less PSI than the G, what was the PSI on the G with the heavy rims?

CinZinnati 03-12-2010 06:40 PM

kyle, I have a question that I think a few people have already touched on but would just like some general info on the other stages, and I would like to emphasize...ONLY if possible. I don't expect exact numbers, or dates...but in order to prepare for this kit or stage 2, is there a broad time frame when we could expect the other kits? And even a broad HP number from stage 2? Or maybe a better way to approach this is, is there a goal in mind for stage 2? Let me again emphasize I'm not begging for more info, just seeing if I may wanna wait for stage 2. Oh yea...cost too :D
I understand this is a slippery slope, as people can read into what you say, so no worries if stillen is holding this info til testing and release.
RCZ, do you have any guesstimates on stage 2 based on what we see from the CARB kit?

StillenZ 03-12-2010 06:44 PM

Wow... speechless... decision time!

RCZ 03-12-2010 07:04 PM

Well I think Stillen wasn't going to do staged kits. I think they said a while back that they are doing a CARB, a tuner and a race kit instead. I bought the race one. No idea what the final pricing is, but I feel fine with that considering how easy/cheap the Stillen kit should be to upgrade. I don't expect a huge price difference.

As far as power, I can only guesstimate, so don't hate if I get it wrong. I want to say 480-500whp. It all really depends on how much boost they can throw at it before it starts popping.

Buddy Revell 03-12-2010 07:31 PM

RCZ, do you plan on going all out and upgrading your engine internals eventually? I don't plan on going that route, which is why the upgrade issue wasn't really a factor for me.

RCZ 03-12-2010 07:38 PM

Yup.

WOW Stillen well done! Very fair price! Its descision time and you just made that descision a whole lot more difficult.

questions:

1. How long is this intro price good for?
2. Possibly I missed it in the release, but is this pricing/dyno numbers for the CARB legal kit?
3. Like others said...warranty info?
4. Could you elaborate further on the engine management your using?

xbigb4ller69z 03-12-2010 08:49 PM

Is this more reliable than the gtm s/c or anu turbo kit?

Only time will tell buddy, no one is out on the street with either yet, give it a few months and we'll see comparos out the wazoo i assume.

kdoske 03-12-2010 09:32 PM

Man I go away for a few days and this crazy press release hits the boards. These are great gains. Love the low/mid range gains, just like a super charger should be--Great job guys.

Typically the less boost you are pushing the more reliable/longer your engine will last. Supercharger systems(not the engine just the piping and what not), in general, need less upkeep then a turbo system.

Really won't know for a while though. Gonna have to have a few dozen kits installed and wait a year or two to know for sure what will hold up longer. My biggest concern with the stillen kit would be the water being pumped to a IC inside the manifold. Stillen claims they are using a super reliable IC so its not supposed to be an issue. It probably won't be though.

jtroun 03-12-2010 09:47 PM

I can't wait to see more and some videos

travisjb 03-12-2010 10:38 PM

Congratulations, gentlemen! Great release... results exceeded my expectations!

There is one question that has been asked already that I'd like an answer to... what is the net weight impact?

fstrnldr 03-13-2010 12:56 AM

You guys asking for kit weight, don't forget to get the IC systems volume as well. The coolant used will add some weight as well.

G35s-Q8 03-13-2010 08:14 AM

I hope it comes with Denso purple 600cc injectors, i hate those crappy RC ones that stillen provided on their previous kit for the 350z.
Also what kind of piggyback you'll ship with this kit? does it involve cutting and soldering like the control box supplied with the old 350z kit?
I hope not, becuase that would be a -1 for the kit.

shumby 03-13-2010 08:27 AM

finaly some copitition in the SC world. Good job stillen and good numbers. You kit looks good. Sorry for busting your chopps before but after seeing all the guys with G35.350's that hated your kit I wanted to eep on you guys to do something good. And you came through. I am still going with the GTM kit but you guys got a nice set up going on ther eand good numbers ta boot. nice work.

My bad, I got caught up in all the excitement of the release...you are right, no stages...carb, tuner, and race. So I guess I'm just interested in info on the tuner before I go Carb...race is out for me. No hating, but 480-500 would be saweet

MMC Racing 03-13-2010 10:25 AM

I think people get too caught up in companies "stages".. Throw that out the window. On this kit, you make your own "stage" with your pulley choice and retune. Some company doesn't need to package it all up and put a little bow on it for you.

If you are going for big power, you either have the skills to know when other upgrades like injectors are required or you work with a shop that does.

m4a1mustang 03-13-2010 11:03 AM

Stage this, stage that... seems to be an import thang.

Mike 03-13-2010 11:33 AM

actually, I believe Stillen was the inventor of 'stages' back in the day with the 300ZX and everyone else just picked up on it.

I always wished that these forum engines would allow you to sort by a specific person somehow that way you could get past the OT stuff like this ish I just posted. Mod feel free to delete this one ;)

Tuner is the one where you have to provide your own fuel system and tune. I think the one you want is the race one which is turn-key. I think the most extreme one is the tuner kit as far as how involved the install is.
