Won't a stock tranny just fail again?

Me three. :(

Someone has to let us know once they find a solution to the tranny problem. Otherwise I'm going to have to wait a long time until I can afford a GTR ($160,000 in Australia).

I think he bought another tranny already, and this concern hasnt been addressed which I feel is an imp atleast for me if that things is so risky then time to unsubscribe from the thread

There's numerous Z's and G's with GTM, GReddy, etc twin turbo's running more power and doing so for years now. Terry's twin turbo 5AT sedan has been going for 3 years now? A few threads down there's a 7AT twin turbo Z (or maybe G) pushing over 450whp. I don't think the tranny is that weak. This may be an isolated issue.

I know about 5AT, if you remember I told you even there is one G35 as well with stage II GTM running perfectly fine its with trango trans upgrade but this 7AT is looking scary to me, as this Gs went down maybe because of whatso ever reason and then there is a Coupe here they guy made some arrangements with Uprev to do some testing on his car and they dyno his car for 10-15 times and then after a week again same thing 5,6 and 7th starts slipping not sure why.

For me Im working things out on both levels going for GTM SC kit and looking for any available valvebody and trq converter to be on the safe side, as getting a used tranny is not such a big issue but then getting that down to dubai is a big hassle.

I was also 4k into saving for a gtm stg 2 SC kit, but with the 7AT breaking from so little power (considering it was only 6psi) i just don't know. I'd upgrade the tranny aswell but i don't want too spend another 2k+++ just so i could drive it, i'm not looking for crazy power just what is offered with the kit.:shakes head:

Im out now too, dont want to pay for a new tranny so, I will be looking to get a 2011 vette around Aug/Sep 2011 when they are selling them cheap to get ready for the 2012s.

hehe. One auto tranny going out of how many F/I cars running and everyone bails. There are other people running auto trannies and there are no problems.

It depends what failed and why.

For example, our auto trans is a bit different than traditonal slushboxes -- it has lock up in 2 -7th gear.

In regular auto mode, calculated load determines gear shifts; if the load tables get altered in the tune to account for the extra air mass from boost, this may mean a lot of weird gear hunting and increased wear and tear on hard parts (i.e., due to lock up rather than fluid coupling), which leads to failure, especially with the extra torque passing through the converter.

That's harder to correct, but might mean things have to be tuned differently.

Or it could be something simple like cooked AT fluid. It's non-serviceable, so difficult to inspect.

Would help to know more details about the problem...
