Numbers were OK. It was very difficult. I did gain a ton of knowledge and know what to do to improve. We were spinning like crazy.

Here is the secret sauce I used:
Since we were spinning if you gave the car too much throttle the boost would come up too much and it would blow the tires off and you would loose momentum. If you gave the car too little throttle you would not gain enough momentum to run a good mph. I had to hold the throttle in just the right place to control the slip and gain the highest possible momentum. If I missed a shift point and hit the rev limiter, the car would loose momentum. You had to do everything perfect. I did this in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I could only go wide open throttle in 5th and 6th. In all honesty, I never got it 100% on any of my runs. Once I figured out the right lane was better I only got 4 tries at the end of the day in the right lane. My first run in the right lane was a 162.7mph. My 2nd run in the right lane was a 163.5mph. My third run in the right lane was 160.2mph. My 4th run in the right lane was only a 159mph. I was done and completely worn out. I made 10 runs all together. I probably shouldn't have posted this but oh well. This is the secret on how you go about running a good MPH with limited traction.

Awesome stuff Mr. Spooler! Your secret sauce is in the application of your right foot and not everyone knows how to apply it in a judicious manner. It is what everyone one of us experienced boosted guys say to the newbies that complain about wheel spin. It is all in your right foot! I am so conscious of it I roll into the throttle even on the street with my non-go fast cars! On the track with the Miata I have to make conscious effort to stand on the throttle coming off turns because it is not normal anymore.

LOL, this is why I struggle to drive an NA car. I have been driving turbo cars so long it is muscle memory. Your are right, I drive everyday like this also. The difference in the way I drove is I was constantly spinning the rear wheels. I had to manage that slip. I was always slipping and needed it to keep the momentum going. I was feeling the slip in my butt and doing my best to adjust it with my right foot to a maximum without going over. It was tough!!!!! Spirited driving on the street or track driving I would manage for minimal slip (Rear wheel spin).

The secret sauce is spot on. I was launching at an rpm that almost stalled trying to avoid spin, second and third were pedaling and even 4th trying to roll in was still spinning. I missed shift 2 times and grinded a gear once and in each of those situations it was a wrap as far as making it up. There was really no room for a mistake. The difference and mistake I think I made was trying to let traction control do the work. It did get me from 148 to 151 going from 20% to 100% but I think if I had dropped it to 0 and did butter soft launches and modulated till I could WOT it , I would've picked up a few mph. I also wish I could've used my Map 4 but I'm still happy with what happened because now I know. And we're all old enough to know "G.I. Joe" said "Knowing is half the battle. "

Back pedaling a high torque motor is an art form. Not many can do it properly.

It wore me the Fudge out. If I would have calmed down and ran only one last time instead of 2 I may could have pulled it off.

Don't feel bad. I missed one shift from 2nd to 3rd and another one I went from 2nd to 5th. I have no idea how I did that. LOL I still ran a 152mph though. You asked me earlier in the day and I told you I just drove the car with no traction control. I had to think about how to tell you how I did it.

Yes I agree, considering there are Mustangs and Camaro’s with similar/more whp and still ran lower MPH, and cars like GT2RS and 720s with their launch control and lightning fast shifts managing around the same speed, it shows how hard it would be for a 6mt 370z.

Most people see it but some don't. Crazy how that works. No love from them I guess. Oh well. That small percentage can really take the wind out of your sail sometimes. It has been tough this week for me.

Joby and my best friend Brian want me to do a 1/4 mile run. I may do that next year for fun. Need to find a drag strip. Hell, I may do it all. LOL Next would be a couple of track days for fun. LOL

Spooler 10-25-2019 11:56 PM

Mike once told me a 370z is a jack of all trades but a master of none. Maybe I can be one hell of a jack of all trades with my car.

Na, I do what I do. LOL I have always said a car that can run 9 sec in the 1/4 mile is fast. I may have to try. If I make it or not, who cares. As far as a track day rabbit hole. Na, I won't get too crazy.

With what you have on the Z already. It's there. You just need some face time with the windshield.

Seb has done 5 runs, the best so far is a 163.2.
