The Shift S3ctor event we have in California has strict requirements for cars that can run 180+.

CARS EXCEEDING 180MPH:

To further emphasize these points in our 2019 Rules and Regulations at the link above, it is required that all participants exceeding 180mph have the following gear and safety equipment:

Helmet – Snell SA2010 or newer (same as all participants)
Gloves – SFI-rated
Fire Suit – SFI-rated
Seat Belts – Properly installed SFI or FIA rated harnesses with at minimum 4-points.
Roll Bar – minimum of 4-points
Fire Extinguisher – mounted within reach of driver
Neck Restraint – HANS device or similar
To be licensed to go 180+mph, each driver must do two solo passes (one in each lane) between 170mph and 180 mph. This is to ensure that you can do a safe pass at that speed as observed by our staff. Once we see and have record that you have accomplished two safe passes, you will be permitted to exceed 180+ so long as the participant and vehicle have the proper safety equipment.

Qualifying for a license on Saturday will be good for both days of the event.
Licenses issued in our records to drivers at any previous Shift-S3ctor events will carry over. You do not need to go through licensing again if you already did at a prior event with Shift-S3ctor.

If you exceed 180MPH without the required safety equipment, you will no longer be able to participate in the event.

That's the one I may take my car to also.

My car is running too good. I don't want to touch it and mess it up seeking more power. Being too greedy wanting more power can cost ya.

So you are telling me to hit my 180mph goal to deter his efforts?

I was wondering if they had the same requirements for the wannagofast. I couldn't remember if you had a cage.

But yeah, I love to see you hit your goal.

They recommend but are not required. Helmet Snell 2013 or greater is required.

If you guys want to place some guesses into a pot, by all means go ahead.

Early prediction speed (155mph)
Not bashing; just factoring in the type of run this is & potentials of getting impatient to apply wot...+ pushing a soft 285 up front :ugh2:
Hope you prove me wong :wtf2:

Not much longer. 20 more days.

Meanwhile I wait for my manifold to come back from welding. Had an exhaust leak from flex joint next to the drivers side header. Hopefully it's back this week and I can get some test runs in. Trailering the car there even though it's 45min from the house.

Spooler 09-30-2019 12:37 PM

I replaced my front steels and brake pads on the front. My facia will not be fixed in time. I will be rocking some tie straps. LOL OH well. I am ready to go. May do a oil change before I go. I may have 2k more miles by then.

I thought about an oil change since it's on stands now anyway but I have less than 1k on the oil in it. Pads and brakes are good. The only thing I may do is have the alignment set to take some camber out of the rear. Other than that the car will be ready as soon as I bolt the turbo back up.

Are you ready????? I am...

-ZS-Carpenter 10-06-2019 05:49 AM

I'm guessing 165mph in the standing 1/2.

FL 4Motion 10-07-2019 12:23 AM

My guess is 163 mph in the standing 1/2 mile. Launching will be tricky.

(This is for Spooler btw).

Spooler 10-07-2019 12:20 PM

To all the haters and negative Nancy's out there. The car is going to run what it runs. I am not too worried about it. Solidus and I are going to have fun. That's the objective,
"To Have Fun". I don't need to do this or that, I am running what I have. I am not worried to much about it. If I get traction and do a good job of driving, it is all over. So, that being said, "Al, get your car going dude".

JARblue 10-07-2019 12:29 PM

My guesses:

2.8 sec 60 ft
11.9 sec 1/4 mi
Top speed 142 mph

I'm being neither. Just giving an honest guess from what I've seen people run in the half mile on runways.

SOHO has the overall VQ 1/2mi record at 172.5mph, but I believe you're correct w/ Dynosty holding the VHR record specifically. I think SOHO's fastest 370Z pass was about 156mph.

That record is going to fall. If one of us don't do it Seb will be out at Shiftsector with his car 2 weeks after us.

Would the record be official if you removed your side mirrors and taped up body gaps?

The reason I asked is when my buddy ran his Supra at Shiftsector he picked up 6 mph by doing that.

cv129 10-08-2019 01:55 PM

In my humble opinion, if it’s a street car, it will be much more meaningful to run it in street trim, so there won’t be any asterisk attached to the result.

It’s like that Tesla Model S lap time around the Nurburgring, besting the Taycan by some 20 seconds, but with a gutted interior, prototype drive mode, Cup 2’s and flare fender. That lap time just doesn’t mean nearly as much.

But, I am not judging though. Best of luck to everyone, and stay safe!

I was going to tape the nose of my car up because I didn't want anything flying off. LOL

Not sticking any other kind to it because I am not fighting to get the glue off.
I will run with nothing before 100mph tape, Duck tape.

They use it nascar for a reason. You risking tearing apart your front facia over glue. Just use painters tape to go over your gap then run duct tape over it.

Hotrodz 10-10-2019 09:07 AM

Order so Track Armor tape it works great and is designed for track cars.

I have a new one at the house. I didn't have enough time to get it painted. If it flies off, I will get a good laugh.

One more week before GO TIME!!!!!

Spooler 10-11-2019 10:39 PM

150 cars signed up for Saturday. It is a packed field. I was offered VIP access for additional money. It will guarantee me 4 passes for the day in the VIP lane. Yeah, I signed up. I will at least get 4 passes in on Saturday.

Spooler 10-12-2019 10:12 PM

Car is ready to go. All it needs is a quick bath, blow dry, and loading onto the trailer.
