At what power level are they not holding up? I haven’t heard of anyone breaking one. |

One of MA's customers also popped an input shaft. That's why this all came about. He had just installed a brand new Nissan tranny.
To be honest, this brings back bad memories of my 1975 280z Turbo. I popped 3 trannies before I finally had enough and upgraded. I still have the car but it is a love/hate relationship. That is why it is still sitting in the garage. |
I would like to think there is a market for some middle ground option between stock and a transmission worth more than the car.
Maybe it's time for someone to explore a new input/main shaft made out of some fancy alloy? |

Agreed. How many people are actually running north of 600wtq, if that is even the limit or just an isolated incident, ten, fifteen tops? |

FYI, My 04.5 Dodge Dually with a 5.9 diesel has an upgraded transmission. The input shaft is billet and heat treated along with several other upgrades. Someone may be able to do the same to our trannies but what will break next and at what power level will be the big question. The only way we are going to know is if someone foots the bill to figure it out. We may just be at the design limit of the tranny. I know the diesel guys with NV5600 or G56's gave up. They just changed out to an automatic since the R&D was already massive for the 48re/47re auto trannies.
