Tony/Dan from FI broke an axle during their initial runs when they broke the 1/4 mile record...so it can happen with less than 600 ftlbs.

Yes a stock car that wheel hops everywhere will brake axles. If u do stiff *** bushings in the back with stiff springs then u can eliminate as much wheel hop as possible and the axles will last longer..or just get traction. Wheel hop killer on our cars and it kills axles..our axles are pretty stout for a factory axle.

Yeah I don't get much wheel hop at all...just straight lights up the tires:tup:

Yup, bushings are key, I know they started recommending them from that point forward...I know because I had the next to be installed.

Changed the left side turbo and clocked it up which was my original idea. It gave better clearance agisnt the sub frame and should make for easy charge pipe from that side.

That's a pretty clean shot. Wrap the **** out of that hot side piping!

YzGyz 10-28-2015 09:20 PM

Bbb that looks sooooo good.. me likes. Wonder what/she perform.

What else are you guys doing to rid of wheel hop other than dif bushings? I'm did that long ago and I hop like mad from the dig.

I changed out the stock springs and sway bar too.

YzGyz 10-28-2015 09:36 PM

What should I get and why. Will I lose handling? I might buy during the holidays during deals and sales time.

To be honest. Buy a set of coilovers and hotchkis sways. Any spring you buy is going to lower the car and you've stated previously you don't want to do that.

Sorry for the thread jack BBR. Back to the regular schedule program

BBRSpeedWorks 10-28-2015 10:48 PM

Poly everything and solid diff and subframe. 12k springs in the back and also a second set for the track also no sway bar in the front. I run BC coil cus I get them for 799 and I can get any spring I want...I would have went solid everywhere in the back but it was over a grand so I'll do that later.

Streetz 10-29-2015 07:56 AM

Just out of curiosity what exactly does removing the front sway bar do? I have heard this for years, but never full understood it much. Getting the Z chassis to hook up is a full time job. Ive been trying everything everyone talks about and nothing works. The compression camber on the suspension design is too much for high horsepower builds.

I have solid subframe and diff mounts. I only noticed a difference on handling, But over all nothing on traction.

My next try will be running 28" TALL tires.

Talking it off helps with weight transfer to sit on the the tires. The solid mounts are good but u need to do all the mounts in the back I. E. All the mounts on the rear hubs all that.. what tires are you running? You do not want a z to squat. Squat equals wheel hop.. this is what I do, run the stiffs spring u can get in the back, poly everything, get it aliNed but strap it down as tight as u can get it to see what the car is going to do with the lil bit of swat it has left..make ur adjustments there so ur at 0 wit the lil bit of swat it has left..run ur tire pressure at 15 psi. Make adjustments from there. But this is what I did someone else may go a different route....
For the daily I'll be running nt05r 325
For the track Mt x275 15x1 275 tire

Engines back from the machine shop. Start assembly tomorrow.

Sooooooo I started assembly and was checking oil clearance when I open my nice new bearings from my local nissan to find out they gave me .25 over bearings...
So I'm a lil bummed out and have to see if I can get some asap...

BBRSpeedWorks 11-06-2015 12:29 PM

So i got the new main bearings in and pulled a late night, till about 3am but it was well worth it the Short block is complete. Everything lubed and torqued rings gapped and clocked. Now on to heads and cams today.

After a 2nd look. It looks like you might have the Pistons upside down...

Im kidding, keep up the good work!

BBRSpeedWorks 11-07-2015 08:09 PM

No there all in there right none of them hit the oil squirters . The cp piston valve reliefs are the same on both sides they have a cut out on the bottom of the piston for the oil squirters.

LSM Systems Engineering | Custom Billet Blocks

Here is idea. Then you could run with the GTR's and UGR Lambo in the 1/2 mile run.

Elmo370z 11-30-2015 12:39 AM

And for that guy bullet who has that gnarley stroker boosted Z

BBRSpeedWorks 04-01-2016 01:24 PM

Was going through this thread and I started to climax, but then flop. What ever happened to this build? 6/7 years later. :rofl2:

Like the 99% of any big power VQ build. They fail

Ouch... that stinks

I picked up aluminum / 304 SS tig welding last summer and spent 6 months just practicing on piping. I feel confident enough tackle a custom TT kit. Originally planned a FI/GTM style setup and thought... mid mount would solve the hassle of dropping the engine, modifying engine mounts, steering column, etc... Not a big power VQ build though, only going GTX2871's.

If you’re shooting for 600whp. Anything you will end up like every vq with a blown head gasket or
Motor.
