Pro4Jackster, I think I have your old kit. I have the flex bar and the idler pulley your talking about. :icon17:

If you don't mind please post what they tell you. I will buy one of the pulleys and brace also if that helps talk them into making them.

Damn. I get around.

That setup made 15+psi with no problems for around 1000 miles. I never got a chance to push it any further.

JWillis72 07-27-2015 06:15 PM

What did you get for power?

We never dyno'd it to see. I'd hate to even guess. We just ran it on the break-in tune for the built motor. Then at 1000 miles pulled it off and sold the kit.

I do remember there being a ceiling somewhere around 450-475 hp for me. And I don't know if it was an airflow problem before the S/C, an IAT problem, or belt slip above 15 psi. This Boosted Performance setup should solve two of those problems. It's going to be interesting to see what people do with this kit now.

JWillis72 07-27-2015 07:08 PM

Oh, I assumed you blew it up. It is going to be interesting, I never considered uping the psi before BP and evohunter started this project.

Just measured my pullies

Stillen 2.90"
Jackshaft 3.20"
SC 3.20"

With impellar upgrade this is supposed to see 12psi sea level

I cant see a 2.45", 2.75", and 2.70" making anything under 15 but I havent calculated it.

I tried to keep the front serp pulley as large as possible for better belt wrap and leverage. It only has about 30 degrees of wrap to work with. Wouldn't it be better to carbonite coat the 3.12" stock serp pulley and use the rear pulleys to increase blower RPMs? That plus an impeller upgrade should make 550hp on a 3.7L. I guess it's all just speculation until someone tries it.

Has anyone calculated the impellers rpm? I was reading on 928 motorsport today and it said the vortech is only made to spin 50,000 rpm but they can up that to 60, 000 but I have no idea what it starts at in the Stillen kit.

Go to vortech's website. Click manuals and tech info, impeller speed calculator, then fill out the info for the V2/V3. It's about 49K RPMs as Stillen sells the kit. There are multiple people on the 350Z forums turning their vortechs over 60K RPMs for years. Then when the bearings fail, send the unit to vortech for a rebuild or trade up to something better.

There are high speed bearings available for the Vortech:

928 Motorsports - Premium High-Speed Ceramic Bearings for Vortech® Superchargers

I would take some time and try to get as much of the belt around the drive pulley on the jack shaft as possible. This may involve some customizing, but would go a long way if one is trying to push this blower.

ive calculated that with my 2.75" on serp side, 2.75" on jack shaft and 2.70" on blower - 52344 RPM

Are you going to do the higher rpm kit or leave it as is?

EVOHUNTER 07-28-2015 08:52 AM

I tried removing the intercooler inside the manifold, it wont come out inless I remove the manifold... I don't want to do that this year lol. :(
